[.. enter DAN...
Can I just point out before you read this post from The Guvnor that absolutly nothing is changing on this site for existing and new members. Membership to this site and the forum is, always has been and always will be completly free.
... exit DAN...]
Ok peeps......
As mentioned before there are going to be a few changes to the forum in the near future and after putting these ideas forward to dan he has agreed that the changes are a bonus for those who wish to take part and given the go ahead to progress forward:clap
THE MAIN THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT THE MAIN FORUM WILL REMAIN THE SAME APART FROM A FEW ADDITIONS AS YOU WILL READ BELOW AND IF YOU FEEL WILL NOT BENEFIT YOU PERSONALLY THEN NOTHING CHANGES :grin2
On the other hand............
[Extended Members -ed] area
This will be a paid area of the site which will give you access to a discount section. We are currently looking at discounts to suit everyone, here are a few to give an example
California Superbike School
Hottrax
Knox
Stompgrip
Bike training Schools
Bike Clothing Shops
Mechanics
etc.
We will try and get as many varied discounts as poss so it is not only beneficial to a certain few and will not start subscriptions -ed until a reasonable ammount of discounts have been agreed.
Joining fee is staggered with two levels.
[B]Full Extended Membership - £25 py this includes Access to extended members area, membership card, EB Tshirt, stickers, lanyard and entrance to a raffle, the winner receiving two tickets to Brands BSB/WSB (tbc).
Part Extended Membership - £15 py gives access to the discount section.
This has been agreed with Dan and will go ahead asap but obviously there is still a lot of work to be done so dont expect it overnight:grin2
It will be non profit making so.....Any monies received for subscriptions will go towards the cost of running the site, members raffles and anything the site may need equipment wise. Any monies left over at the end of the year will be donated to Essex Air Ambulance:clap
Main Forum
This will primarily remain the same apart from a few possible additions and this is were we would like some feedback plz guys.....
Members Bike Feature
A monthly feature on a members bike with pics and a personal write up from the member. Giving an insight into the members we have and a chance to show off your trusty steed (or not so trusty if its a ducati:grin2)
Ladies only section
As it says !!! Somewhere the girls can chat about girlie things or whatever they chat about together.:cuddle
Site update
This is mainly down to our overlord Dan. But just a few tweeks to make the forum look a bit more snazzy and up to date.
For Sale Section
Open to all members but only accesed after limited to a minimum number of posts are made within the forum.
Rideouts
Regular ride outs added to the calender with planned routes. These will be organised by various people and there will be rideout rules posted on the site. This way it is not a race and any new riders/members can feel more comfortable in joining the ridouts nowing they can ride at there own pace and not be left in the middle of nowhere !
In addition to this MickTLS has been looking at EssexBikers Stands at various venues.......ie Air Ambulance run ... this will mean having a few bikes lined up at the site andhanding out flyers giving info on EB and generally pushing EB forward.
Obviously the main forum will affect all of us so this is open for comments and ideas.........
Over to you:rockon

Thansk for that Guv(kev) that was superb. Sounds great all the new changes really impressed with them and the stand's venues etc is a great thing i will be more then happy to help with anything needed. i think stands at events is great specially if we can get our bikes there all lined up for dads and kids to look around at and brings a good name and more members to us.
With the rideouts i think thats a great idea to will make more people willing to come and ride and not feel its a comp for the best or quickest..
Over all sounds great though any help needed please do ask im more then happy to help
Once again thanks Kev and Dan and Mick for sorting this and who ever else is involved with making essexbikers so welcome and hopefully bigger in the future (and you kev for you pub haha)

17th Feb - Changes
1) Ladies Only! forum added under General Chat, no moderators - forum closed
2) All forums default view changed to list threads posted in the last year not the last day - hooray!
3) Members Bike Feature forum added under Bike Reviews & Comments - forum closed
4) Added Female User group for Ladies Only! forum... however as leaders for authorising join requests, myself Lateshift and MICKTLS are all now members lol... so I need a female volunteer to take over this and the forums moderation.

All sounds ok ish but dont forget that charging people for Membership can put a lot of people off...Im not going into any details or mentioning any other sites but a couple of sites that im also a member of have a Discount section which is not charged for...
Soz for the negative input but thats just my 2 pence worth...
Dont worry about negative input, that's what The Guvnor posted this thread for ;)
Please remember tho, nothing that anyone currently does and/or has access to on this site is changing. Everyone is still a member of the Essexbikers site... in fact we really shouldnt call this membership, its more a group of forum members who collectivly want to pay for additional bits that cost money to do/set up.

Its not just about discounts.
Any monies generated are all put back into the forum and its member, be it the free gifts upon becoming a member, to helping fund the upkeep of the site, donating to the nominated charity and (in the future) helping to cover the cost of pitch when we take EB on tour to various events around the area.
We were never expecting this to be welcomed with open arms by everyone, and the desision was made through carefull discussion planning.
At the end of that day its about the site and the people who are part of it. Its upto the individual site if they offer any discounts free or otherwise. we decided to include it in the paid memebership out of respect for the people who really make and effort to the site, and also to those who support the site and allow us to have these discounts
the last thing we want is a bunch of strangers taking the michael and turning up to EB organised events like track days claiming to be from the site just to save a few quid, who we've never met, spoken to etc!
As has been said in the Guvnors original post, the forum isnt going to change, we are not making money out of this, it purely designed to bring members together old and new and give the site a push forward!

I agree with JJ, £25 per year isnt much for a years subscription but I suspect you could loose some members who feel its abit steep to start with. I will be joining and as a newbie I hope you dont mind me saying. Its only my opinion. Look forward to the changes and can we have a Survival skills section.
Oh and Well said, Sorry new threads sent . Shall I say sorry again. Sorry

Hi TALLTONE,
Why would we loose members? It's not the case that everyone now has to pay for membership to the site, absolutly nothing has changed for existing and new members.
This is just something that a group of forum members want access to in addition to the site.

I PM'd The Guv and am getting onto a couple of contacts I have in the insurance game (big nationals by the way...not local touts) so should be able to sort out at least one big company who might give us 10 or 15% on deals etc.
I've also had a chat with other peeps and might be able to sort something else out. I'll keep in touch with Kev about it all as it happens.

The idea of the "rules" (its a harsh word to use but all i can think of at the mo) is that as a group we can all go out, be it a short blast or a long jaunt, irespective of what bike you ride. wether youre a newbie on a 125 or a seasoned power ranger. The theory being that we can all stick together leave at the same time, arrive at the same time and not loose anyone. Doodlebug is the one to explain how it works properly (or should i say, he's the one who can post it so it makes sense, rather than a random bunch of words from me!!:grin2)

OK let me get this right..............and Im playing devil's advocate here....
So the 'Extended' members section gives you access to ONLY the discount section?
And inc in that you get a t-shirt, lanyard etc? For your £25.00? And is this a life membership, yearly etc?
So what happens if someone asks Bean for a t-shirt or Tez for a lanyard and that person is not graded as a particular member?
OK, I already have a t-shirt, Lanyard and Sticker.....I can get discounts with all the people through trade, and to be fair a lot of people on her also have contacts for discounts. It is gonna have to be one big guaranteed list. There is a £10 difference between the memberships and the site is offering a t-shirt, sticker and lanyard, but surely these items are gonna cost more than the £10 deficit, so has someone been sourced to produce them so cheap? Should the discount section in fact be reduced to something less? As I couldnt make the meeting I could do with some clarity as to how that figure was reached.:reading
I will happily donate to the Forum towards the running costs via PayPal to Dan. So what's the point of me paying £25.00? What else is my incentive?
I can appreciate the reasons for this and the input with regards to Charity and the EB Stands at events so I look forward to seeing the replies...:grin2

the money also goes towards (amongst other things) printing membership cards which can be used to claim discount at various places (to be agreed) and we hope to also take EB on tour to various events (essex Air ambulance etc) and a lot of these places charge for a pitch.
We will also be using the funds to build up a stock of merch so we can also have a EB store where people can buy any extra t-shirt, lanyards...whatever.
We've not gone into this without thinking about it, The cost is actually very reasonable considering whats involved, and we feel its fair. Its all for the site and its members after all. If you dont want to pay £25 then thats up to you, but there are obvious benefits.
Not everyone has a mate of a mate who can do you a deal on this that or the other, and not everyone has the front to ask for a discount. having a dedicated members area makes it easier.
Its a system that many other forums use, (Im a member of one) and it works really well

Shane that does add some clarity, it wasnt clear in the original post that a 'pool' of cash from nothing obviously has to be out together first from initial subscriptions to put towards these items. :reading

No worries.
Once everything has been agreed and finalised it will be all good!!!!:grin2
Just remeber....any monies left over at the end of the year form "pooling" membership fees will go straight to Essex Air Ambulance and possibly a second charity like Riders for health

I can only think that he is talking about the marker system, the IAM use it all the time, and once everyone understands how it works it is great.
You have a front marker, he NEVER changes, everyone knows who he is and will recognise him, nobody goes past him.
You have a tail end charlie who is the back marker and he is always last, everybody knows who he is and recognises him.
When you get to a junction, the leader just goes where he wants to go, whoever is second stops at the junction and indicates which direction the leader went, until he sees the tail end marker then he pulls away and becomes last but one.
So the second place man who will become the marker rotates round and everyone takes a turn.
If you want to go at a faster pace and overtake within the pack you can and you will get to the front and become the marker sooner and get put back to the back of the pack.
So no one can get lost, no one can break down and be stranded, everyone takes a turn at being the marker and those who want to ride at a faster pace and overtake can.
Its a good system.

Where is Karl with my answer?? lol
He's behind you!
:)
The suggested ride out system that should help to make organised ride-outs fun for people of all abilities is probably familiar to anyone who has been out with other organised groups. It enables slower riders to stick at a pace they are happy with, and faster riders to have a bit of a blat now and then ;)
Basically you have a group leader, and a group tail ender. Nobody should overtake the leader and the the tail ender will always stay at the back. These are two people who have checked the route out ahead of time and are familiar with it, plus they are in contact with each other through mobiles are radios.
The leader will ride at a suitable pace, prob too fast for learners but certainly not billio, it will be a happy medium. If you are a faster rider you will soon find yourself behind the lead rider. At the next junction the lead will signal to whoever is 2nd to stop at the junction and wave everyone through until the tail has caught up and they will wave the stopped rider on. At which point the person who has been sitting still for the last 10 minutes finds themselves on a mission to get back to the front again. ;)
If someone breaks down or has a mishap the tail will find them soon enough and contact the lead at which point the ride will be halted until all is well.
Using this system there is always somebody marking every junction, if you come to a T junction and no-one is there go straight on. Every roundabout will be marked by a rider. Slower riders arent under pressure to keep up, faster people have many opportunities to have a good play. If any one decides its not for them they overtake the lead and are no longer a part of the rideout, so hopefully everyone is happy.
in the event we have loads of people on a ride, we will prob have to seperate groups a faster one and a more sensible one. Each rideout will require 2 or 4 volunteers to lead or tail.

Can we have a list of who the mods are somewhere, I've forgotten who is and who ain't!
Also I don't think we have a female mod, if there is a ladies section then surely there should be a female mod to oversee it!
After seeing the jump pics from a ride-out not to long ago I have to say that I have no interest in coming to any ride-outs like that, life's to short to spend days crying over lost friends!
Organised ride-outs yes, lunacy no (I do that on my own).

i think this is where own preferences comes in, like jon said those who wanted to jumpp jumped, those who didnt just watched and had a chat, but likewise DJ i could understand why you wouldnt want to take part in this.
i think the key point is not ever sigle rideout amoungst us needs to be a fully organised EB rideout wit guidlines to follow as i dotn think it would ever work, however the odd few where more people turn up why not give it a go. but dont be surprised if certain members get bored and hoon it off and nobody should turn their noses up as they do not agree with it

Peeps, the bottom line is this...........all that we are trying to do is make it progress the site forward....I know of a few new members that will not go on ride outs as they are simply because they are not as experienced as other members and feel they will get left behind, get lost, ride beyond there capabilities etc etc. we are not saying there are no rideouts apart from organised one at all but, phaps on a monthly/6 weekly basis, if we can organise rideouts that include all levels of ability and are still a decent ride for all of us, then surely that is not a bad thing ??
Ladies section was mentioned as a good idea by certain members, who have now changed there opinion:grin2, but hey, its there if it dont work it can be taken off, if it does all well and good, but to be honest its not affecting anyone. So cant we just run with it ?
As for the membership fee, as the captain said, the price wasnt just picked out of thin air, there are costs involved in all that we hopefully will be doing to promote EBand also running of the site. If you would rather just donate then that is cool. Every penny helps towards the upkeep:grin2, But as a seperate section it means no tom **** and harry can take advantage of discounts that have been sourced for the site and its members. And if you make savings on kit, ins etc then 48p a week aint that bad is it ?
As Dan added to my post, if you do not want to pay for the discount section, then nothing will change for you. The main forum stays the same and everyone is happy .....hopefully:laugh1

Um.... The jumps...
That was me.... Hardly lunacy! I didnt encourage anyone to do it. People have free will and choice. Theres a risk envolved everytime you ride regardless of speed.
When we organise rideout everyones welcome. We wait for anyone whos slow, or doesnt have confidence etc. Theres no ego's involved. I'd suggest you come on one before you make a judgement...

And if you make savings on kit, ins etc then 48p a week aint that bad is it ?
As Dan added to my post, if you do not want to pay for the discount section, then nothing will change for you. The main forum stays the same and everyone is happy .....hopefully:laugh1

that a great sum up GUV.
especially the bits about the ride, we dont really have EB rideouts at the moment just odd little groups that ride together. the only EB ride was back in march 05 where ricky organised it and EVERYONE attended and what a great day it was, people of all speeds all abilities enjoyed that day from what i beleive. i think there should be more like that which have the mentioned format, but people have to turn up!! and at the end of the day it wont stop the usual group go and do their own thing every sunday for example and if new people wanna tag along then they are free to do so.
am i right or am i missing the point????
just one concern is the divide forming in the forum and it seems like itll only get worse, and then what??

I'd suggest you come on one before you make a judgement
I don't think I made judgment and as I said in brackets at the end of my post if I want a mad one then I do that on my own!
If you want to do jumps then do it, if people want to chill out either side of the landing zone then let em.
I'm not saying what anyone does is right or wrong, just that I would rather not be there myself.

Spot on mate:clap all it means is any new members who dont now all of us get a chance to ride at a comfortable pace, have a good day and meet us all, beyond that if they are happy to go out every week then they can jump on any other rides. No one has said the rideouts are barmy stunt races, just that a new member, or even current members may feel more comfortable joining and organised ride first........then they can go on a barmy stunt race:laugh1
And personally I dont think there is a divide, I just think , as usual, people are reading far to deep into changes that may happen. Anything that does happen will only benefit not hinder.

[quote=RaceMeNSee;137563]Whacha learning? I just feel like.........i have been on MANY EB rideouts.........and everytime there is a newby with us (when i have been there) he or she has ALWAYS been taken care of! quote]
He`s right , on my 1st time out with them all although they were a lot quicker (had only been riding a few weeks) they would go at their usual pace but would always stop at each junction to let me catch up.I havent been out with them for a while but have had lots to sort out (job , house etc) but we should all make the effort and give it a go.
How about all meeting up easter weekend and trying then? then we can have a EB rideout to the southend thing , give out flyers etc, I think it would certainly advertise the site really well.
I will start a new thread for this if you want and organise it , who would like to be leader of the group and whos going to tag behind , nominate yourselves in new thread.

also not every ride is compulsory, people can pick and choose who they ride with and the structured rides are just a way of people learning and getting to know others.

If you mean about structured riding then all I can suggest is that people give it a go. I've done a couple and loved them. If you are marking a junction you get to see everyelse ride past and give them a little nod. If you don't want to mark a junction just make sure you are never number 2 in the ride. You dont need to know the route or roads to have a good time because the whole navigating part is removed from the equation, just enjoy the ride until you see a marked junction, then turn.
Its all done to try and keep people together. The last EB ride was actually one I led down to Kent that went horribly wrong for various reasons, but mainly because we got split up, that plus the police hiding around corners :(.
We are just trying some ideas out, if they dont work, bovvered :)

Just to clear it up some more. My thoughts on the subject were based on another club I've ridden with in the past. They have weekly ride outs which are organised on the fly same as us lot, BUT, maybe 3 or 4 times a year a monster ride-out is planned to somewhere far away and exotic, like Dungeoness :) A pub or cafe is pre-warned that they are arriving, and safe parking and assured bike friendly venues are arranged.
We could do a south coast run, an essex countryside run etc etc. Open to suggestions actually.

I think a lot of people are grossly missing the point here.
At the end of the day if you dont want to partake in an "organised" rideout then dont....if you dont want to pay for a yearly membership then dont.
We're not implementing all this and then saying its this or nothing, its completely down to you all individually.
I think we need to chillax and roll with it. The forum isnt changing, you guys can still do what the hell you like, but it would be nice every now and then for us all as a group (after all, we're all members of this community) to pull together and do something awesome as a group, show a bit of solidarity and promote the site and get a load more memebers and ultimately a load more friends!!!!!!

People just seem to be getting defensive and winding each other up over this. Come on guys, we're all part of the same group, I personally am looking forwards to the organised rideouts and such. Its not going to be the case where its you go out on the organised rides, or you dont go out, you guys that go out on a weekend now, can still do it, and no one can bitch or judge you for the way you ride, thats your choices, but then every now and then there will be a big (think bout how many regular members we have) organised rideout where we can all go out as an organisation and have a wicked ride out for the day without worrying about people keeping up or getting lost. I think it can only be a good thing. You just all need to stop, take a deep breath and give it a shot, Any kinda change is always hard, just give it a shot, the people involved have obv given this all a LOT of thought so give them the chance to show us what they got!

OK, read all that, now I'm going for a beer I need one now !
I fookin hate bike politics as I was chairman of a bike club once and I could never please all of the people all of the time,, what EB are doing is the same, some will like it some will not.
On the rideout side i rode out to Burnham last autumn with some EB and decided not to go on to Finchingfield as the pace on the road was to mad for me, I keep my speed to trackdays but dont knock anyone who wants to ride faster than i do,, its up to them, no one holds a gun to my head and says ride fast i have a mind of my own that dictates how fast or slow I go.
I have no problem in bringing EB foward with a membership subscription, I am just glad to have found this place rather than ride round like Billy No mates.

I would be up for any organised rideout. Back in the days when Ricky used to organise them, we all had such a laugh. We lost people and others burnt off but the main group pretty much stayed together. Remember the Snetterton run we did to watch Mark? That was also a great laugh.
I'm pretty sure someone said this already, but if an organised rideout is not your bag, there's nothing stopping you arranging something else in the rideouts forum same as always.
I for one think the groups of people who have taken the time to meet up and come up with these ideas have done a brilliant job. Pretty much all of them have seen how change has caused havoc in the past and all these ideas mean nothing changes for anyone who doesnt want it to.

Personally I quite like to watch racing for the racings sake, but it doesnt matter to me who won last week, or who is racing, club racing is just as good to watch as MotoGp. But I know others are into results and stuff.

After failed attempts to set things up, and the time I spent running around dealing with the discounts I had set up, (over 40 companies approached, and to date, 23 def responses), I have now decided to pull the plug on the bits I was sorting out and I have emailed the companies concerned to let them know the situation.
I will not put my position with these companies on the line, some of whom I have dealt with for a long time, because other people linked to this website cannot pull their finger out.
I am sorry to those who I know this does not involve, and have worked hard for this idea to happen.

Its a shame that this is probly never going to happen after all the ideas and time that has gone into it. I was looking forward to getting some nice discounts. Oh well one more thing that gets forgotten about for Essex Bikers!
It was that important that no one called me.
I have a new baby and 2 jobs at the moment meaning im working days and nights as well as helping vic out with the littleun - how the hell do you all expect me to have time to log onto the forum and read through everything on here? The only reason I know about this now is due to someone calling me to let me know it was all about to kick off.
I'm tired of re iterating how much peoples help is appreciated. If you dont know that by now then im banging my head against a brick wall.
If you still want the list of things doing that you PM'd me about then say and i'll do them today. If not, then so be it.

It was that important that no one called me.
So when I mentioned it on MSN a few weeks back that me and Kev had spoke, and would it be possible to set up some bits, and you said yes no probs, that don't count as a call then considering I don't have your number ????
I have a new baby and 2 jobs at the moment meaning im working days and nights as well as helping vic out with the littleun - how the hell do you all expect me to have time to log onto the forum and read through everything on here?
We all have lives, most of us have kids, some are younger/older than others but they all need looking after, but we still find the time to make the effort to get things done be it on EB or elsewhere.
The only reason I know about this now is due to someone calling me to let me know it was all about to kick off.
Wonder who that was ? :reading And who said it was going to kick off ?
I dunno about kev, It's up to him to reply with his thoughts, but I thought I made my position clear. The companies I had approached will get the right arseache if I keep pestering them for more discounts, then come on here and see nothing has happened (and I know most them will come on here to look before agreeing deals), threatening my position with them on other sites.

Nobody actually said that did they. And I don't remember anyone actually mentioning your name come to think of it. We all help out Dan where we can, but to be honest this is the second time I have honestly tried to help EB and the second time I felt I've been kicked in the nuts for it. What else am I supposed to do mate ?
If you still want the list of things doing that you PM'd me about then say and i'll do them today. If not, then so be it.
Dan.
Why today ? Did it need that phone call to get things sorted ?
Sorry Dan, I know your busy. I know your interests are for the best of EB. I understand the family thing, I've been there, but mate, if you ain't got the time to do things, or keep up with things then feckin ask for help.
I've offered on several occasions to help out, if you don't want the help, or don't trust me then fine, but don't blame me, Kev and others if they get fed up when things don't get done.
If I had the access, I could easily set up the forum areas, add basic pages etc etc...I already run a VB site, I know the structure.
Just sodding ask mate.

Well that about sums it up.......
Yes, I did PM you dan, not once, but four times ! And obviously it wasnt that important because I did not get a single reply ! And why someone felt the need to phone you and tell you it was about to KICK OFF i really dont understand. Just someone else trying to stir **** on this site ?
I own a pub, I work 7 days a week 365 days a year, I do almost 80 hours a week regular, I have 3 kids one of which I have 4 days a week by myself........see where im going with this:grin2
Its not gonna KICK OFF, cos there is nothing to kick off about.
If you feel like your banging your head against a brick wall Dan......stand next to me and we can do it together:grin2
All that will happen now is EB will stay the same. Its a real shame but as you said yourself Dan....so be it !
Anyway lets move on........
So when I mentioned it on MSN a few weeks back that me and Kev had spoke, and would it be possible to set up some bits, and you said yes no probs, that don't count as a call then considering I don't have your number ????
Plenty of people on here have my number - even Kev.
We all have lives, most of us have kids, some are younger/older than others but they all need looking after, but we still find the time to make the effort to get things done be it on EB or elsewhere.
Oh I see, I didnt make the effort - my apologies.
Wonder who that was ? :reading And who said it was going to kick off ?
Someone who knows my situation at the moment and knows how things can quickly escalate on here. No need to finger point, it wont help.
I dunno about kev, It's up to him to reply with his thoughts, but I thought I made my position clear. I would imagine it was the posts you were talking about that threatened your position, not the lack of a members area. However I do sympathise with the frustration of not seeing any output after putting in so much work. (sounds like im being sarcastic there, but im not).
Nobody actually said that did they. And I don't remember anyone actually mentioning your name come to think of it.

I don't know, but it seems like you have both thrown your toys out of the pram really. There are better ways to deal with things.
Why today ? Did it need that phone call to get things sorted ?
If it's caused that much grief me not being about to do these things in the last few weeks then i'll do them now. And yes, it did.

Easy, i've not put any blame on anyone... and as for asking for help, check the amount of threads started by me over the years BEGGING for help with the site. In fact on a couple of occasions I have jumped at a couple of peoples willingness to help, made them admins/mods etc. and then got stoned by everyone because of what they did. Don't get me wrong, everyone was totally right but I was (and still am) desperate for the help outside of moderation - we are already lucky enough to have good and dedicated mods.
If I had the access, I could easily set up the forum areas, add basic pages etc etc...I already run a VB site, I know the structure.

This is not my site, I just admin it as and when I can. If the users of this forum collectively agree to have you as an admin then so be it - but you are asking the wrong person. From experience, i'm not single handedly making that decision.
Dan.
Well that about sums it up.......
Yes, I did PM you dan, not once, but four times ! And obviously it wasnt that important because I did not get a single reply !
How does that sum it up? It just re-iterates the fact that you all started getting the arse with me not replying to PM's when I wasnt logging on to the site.
and why someone felt the need to phone you and tell you it was about to KICK OFF i really dont understand. Just someone else trying to stir **** on this site ?
It wasnt to stir anything - They knew I hadn't been on the site for ages and didnt want to see people moaning about my lack of involvement without me knowing about it.
All that will happen now is EB will stay the same. Its a real shame but as you said yourself Dan....so be it !
Well, that's your call.

Do you know something, and this isn't aimed at you Dan, but me speaking out loud, I don't really care TBH.
I haven’t thrown my toys out the pram, more to the point I'm sitting here feeling like I'm just wasting my time, all of the time, when it comes to clubs, forums, bike sites etc etc.
I used to do a lot of website for people, the couple I do now are really just for charities, and it's my way of helping them out. I set them up; select some moderators let them get on with it unless they want me to do updates or add/remove things.
I was sceptical about the private subscription area at the start, but afterwards decided, I have the contacts, why not use them to help out the EB community.
I sat here for over 2 weeks emailing people and calling people from work, got some good replies and deals set up (as some people on here know), then all I asked for was a private area where I could post the progress of these for the other staff/helpers (whatever u want to call them) to see so we didn't all start treading on each others feet.
I met Kev and a few others down the pub one night where we spoke about it, and they will back me up on this, I said I want nothing for it. I'm not after any status, glory, big pats on the back, in fact I said I didn't want anyone to know what I was doing after the crap I got before for trying to help out.
That was about 4 weeks or so ago (if not more) and I've heard nothing from anyone about it. No PM's, No calls, No emails and no more posts on the forum. I've had a few emails from companies I spoke to asking when it's getting set up, and I was struggling to give them an answer.
To be honest, what I asked for would take 10 minutes and it wasn't a lot to ask. Whether that be whoever’s fault for not calling you Dan, your fault for not doing it or my fault for not chasing it, it don't really matter now, it never got done.
I also mentioned in the Oi’ Admin room about building a simple page with all the maps on for the NWH, Boreham etc, I offered to lay it out and all you had to do was create a custom template and drop the link into the nav bar.......I would do the rest......I even sent you an offline MSN message for the forum link where I asked about it. Nothing !!!!
Collectively, I feel the whole system is at fault, and as a result, I personally shall not bother anymore if nobody else can.
<sigh>
I'm done with this Kev. You both have a point to an extent, I was all up for the changes you suggested and then didnt commit any time to it unlike you two, however it was not done intentionally and still doesnt mean you cant do what you want to do.
That said, you have both annoyed me with the way you decided to vent your feelings, but then im easily annoyed which is probably why it sounds like im being defensive. So many people on here have my number, I still cant see how it came to this without one of you trying to call me... but there you go. It's just a shame you were not in when I popped down the pub a couple of weeks ago, maybe we could have sorted it out then.
If you want the changes made then i'll do them, if not then life goes on.

Ok, cool. I am bothered and always have been, so please dont think that. If I wasn't, I wouldnt have backed you up when the bullets started flying at the begining ;)

I don't believe any critic of Dan was intended even though he has been mentioned here a few times as not responding in various ways.
I accept the frustration of those trying to move the site forward and can see that it will benefit those that choose to partake of the discounts etc. and ultimately Dan himself if enough are attracted and they bother to click on the paid ads and the like.
I like the site. I love the banter, even if sometimes (well most times) others don't share my views.
I look forward to seeing how the site develops in the future as it has proved entertaining for me and as you can see I keep coming back (Quiet in the cheap seats that geezer who said why does he bother).
I will continue to drop by from time to time and add my 2 cents worth (moving to USA perm so can't say tuppence worth anymore).
Dan, I'll continue to send you what I can when I can. Great site keep it going m8.
