or you could get the original shock rebuilt etc. cost about £70 plus VAT. you can then get the bike nicely set up by whoever does the rebuild.

give MC Technics a call :grin2

you could get it rebuilt but thata would just take it back to stardard

Not if it was getting done at a specialist it wouldnt ;)

Rebuilt by a manufacturer is just a rebuilt, but a rebuild by someone like MCTechnics means that they change the shim stack to suit the weight of the rider too.

It's all well and good getting a spring that matches your weight but ideally the piston/damper needs to be able to react in proportion to your weight and the spring, hence the fine tuning comes in ;)

But with standard shock absorbers they are designed to work across the range so it should be okay with a stiffer spring, its only when you need the suspension to work at a set range that you really need to start messing with shim stacks etc :)

I remember enquiring last yeah about refurbing mine and that for the 70 notes would just be replacement shims etc and a new spring to put it back to standard

Was that through Hagon though Stu?

that was through mc technics

Hagon wont rebuild anything other than there own shocks

That to me sounds more like Darren was quoting you just to rebuild it to normal spec, he does custom work where he will change the shims too on most shocks, much the same as he can convert shocks to make them adjustable too ;)

I've just ordered an ohlins rear shock and ohlins front springs for the SV. Had to sell a bike to get enough cash though!

It will naturally turn me into a riding god

Yeah probly but it would be more than 70 notes to upgrade it to a better spec ;)

to be honest i wouldnt actually be sure on that, Darren serviced (including fitting Ohlins springs and heavier oil) my forks and also serviced the Ohlins shock i was getting him to fit for me for £235, not a bad deal all things considered so i wouldnt expect a custom shim rebuild on a fairly standard shock to be much more than servicing to standard spec ;)

If the amount of money you spend makes a difference to ability I would be kicking Stoners arse (I said kicking ) :grin2

Well i've managed to get hold of a spare standard shock which has done 8000 miles (Apparantly) which has come with a Hyper pro spring on & is in Mint condition & not a mark on it so am going to fit that tomorrow & see what thats like...failing that i can get get hold of a Brand new Nitron race shock with remote adjuster for cost price through a mate at a dealership...:grin2

So thats the rear sorted then just got to get some progressive springs for the front now & then drop the bike off to Mick to fit the springs/service forks & service/Balance carbs etc. That'll be the mechanical side done, just need to order new race fairings now & drop them off to Dave for painting & should be pretty much sorted for Donny on the 28th March...:grin2
