You dont need a Factory bike to win the GP...That Yamahas going well.., Admittedly Toseland would be very lucky to win & it wont happen but reckon he will finish in a good position...First year will be a settling in year i think...Rossi will be out for a Victoy this year though, Hopefully he does it this year & wipes that grin off of Stoners Face...
Is this first MotoGP race going to be in the Evening, 23:00 start.............Local time!

Quote taken from the Press office @ Rizla
The first round of the season will mark a very significant moment in the 60-year history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, marking the first time a race has been staged at night under artificial lighting conditions. The Losail circuit will be bathed in light from thousands of high-tech bulbs that give off enough illumination to almost allow the riders to wear dark visors

Toseland done good in the qualifying as did three of the four Yamahas, some bloke called Rossi only managed seventh ?
The genral feeling from the commentators is that Michelin will have the upper hand this weekend wouldn,t it be better racing if it were a one tyre manufactuer series to level the playing field ?
Lateshift
08-03-2008, 08:32 PM
My take is that Bridgestone will still be on form for the race, the track temp had dropped significantly over the last 30 minutes of that qualifying session and in last nights qualifying practice the order was slightly different, most of the riders were on race tyres for that ;)
But i do think the order will be something like
Stoner, Lorenzo, Rossi, Toseland
Lorenzo, Stoner, Rossi, Toseland
Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo, Toseland
Anyone want to have a punt on Toseland for 4th on race tyres? :D
SteadyEddie
08-03-2008, 08:43 PM
I agree with your comments, Toseland done a good job and he and his team made a wise move by banking an early lap before the temp dropped too much Fourth in the race would be a great result for Toseland I hope he gets at least that, I have to say that Stoner or Lorenzo top my tips to win and I would be very, very surprised if Rossi made the podium.
Should be a good race.

09-03-2008, 12:09 AM
Got to back Toseland all the way, with a pole in his first race at night on cold (ish) tyres whats he going to be like on a warm track in day light??
But i would like to see Rossi come back this year and shut the critics up..
Lateshift
09-03-2008, 08:12 AM
But he didnt get pole ;)
Qatar is a circuit Toseland is used to so it didnt really surprise me that he went well there, what will surprise me is if the Michelins go the distance with a Superbike rider on them, if you cast your minds back to WSB, JT was never known for tyre conservation, nor was he in the same league as some of the other riders when it came to adapting to the tyres going off.
That being said he does look really happy with the setup and team he has got at the moment and i still think he will finish the year in the top 6 ;)
Rossi would be the person i would most want to win the championship, but i suspect that Lorenzo isnt going to let him (and i dont think that lad is going to be a 'people's champion/favourite' as he is far too arrogant :D )
But Stoner will be in the top 3 whichever way you look at it, wether that's 1st, 2nd or 3rd i reckon is going to come down to the battle between Rossi and Lorenzo ;)
DoodleBug
09-03-2008, 10:23 AM
I take quilifying with a pinch of salt because of the tyres. Toseland did do well, but the couple of seconds they showed of Rossi talking to his crew after the finish (they were all smiling and joking) suggests to me that the Doctor may well have something up his sleeve. Should be good. But agreed on the Jorge front, he is going to be the one to watch. Predictions?
Lorenzo, Rossi, Stoner, Toseland for me, and if there is a god, Pedrosa DNF :)
..............Pedrosa DNF :)
Because he has taken Lorenzo out..................:grin2
Rossi, Toseland, Stoner

Stoner and Lorenzo have a faster race pace in practice than Rossi which is worrying. I think he might have made a mistake going to bridgestones.

Scott Redding done an excellant job. I think these young lads are very under estimated. Some of these names will no doubt be stepping into the big guns shoes in a few years to come.
Shame about Danny Smith..........Bloody steering damper came loose which is why he fell back so far.
I still reckon stoner will win again this year. The only thing stopping him is mechanical failure and outright bad luck.
And as for 2, 3, 4 ............... Pedrosa have to be in there some where, I don't think Dovey will make top 4 .....slim chance of top 6, he just hasn't got the experience. JT is capable of going top 4 but that all depend how that new engine is after the next race.
Whatever happens...........it's gonna be rock and roll all season I think.

2.) Lorenzo
3.) Pedrosa
4.) Rossi
