Ok, i've dug the whole garden out, and have a slope of about 5 inches, sloping towards the house.
Question:- Whats best to level the garden out??. I thought plain old gravel, or sharpe sand.... Ta.

I usually find a cruise missile does the job quite well.

Done a few of these in my time!
first DONT get a wickes how to lay a patio guide.
wouldn,t recommend sloping toward house, better to slope away, leaving Min of 150mm from top of slab to DPC (damp course)
I always laid a 50mm ish bed of concrete, then used mortar dabs to lay the slabs on. Type 1 and sharp is ok for brick paviours cos you can wacker the bricks down, try this with patio slabs and you have ....crazy paving! sand is do able but they can sink in it, i wouldn,t use it.

the best way to deal with gardening is a big load of concrete poured in an smoothed off with a power float an painted, then ya can get more bikes on....

yeah you dont want the slope facing the house, you need it running away from the house...

Well thanks for the help all, i would try the missile aproach, but B&Q said they don't stock em...lol..
Anyway, after watchin Challenge Tommy Walsh on sky for a few days, i've decided to go for the hardcore and sharp sand route.
I need around 280 slabs at 450mm square, so if anyone knows a cheap place i'd love to hear about it as B&Q want just under 600 quid....
Cheers..

Err, well, slightly more than a patio...:o
I'm paving the whole garden. No dirt, no grass. Want somethin maintenance free and clean cos i'm fed up with the dog walkin mud in..

If you cant fix anything in the garden with a big knife, a hammer, a power tool or a fire then it aint worth doing!

I have half and half, it's easyer mowing the grass than getting the weeds out of the patio edges lol
