Does anyone else on this forum use/know anything about it, had a new laptop running it for a couple of months and it was fine at 1st. The last couple of weeks it seems to have a problem with flash player. Everytime i try watching a video (youtube etc) it suddenly decides i need to download flash player (EVERY F*****G DAY!!) so i get redirected to download it, download it try watching the video again, however after downloading it for 5846th time it still hasnt been recognised anyone got any ideas? Also had a similar problem with the channel 4od programme, worked fine for the 1st few weeks, now it streams the sound but no picture.

:mad:It makes me VERY angry lol, i remember the day i went in to buy the laptop

Me: So is windows vista alright cos i hear its really buggy

Salesman: Well i dont use it myself but this is because errrrr....... It works fine, it was only the 1st versions that were dodgy it'l be fine.

Would it be possible to install XP or would that be just as much hassle?

have you tried right clicking on the Internet Explorer 7.0 icon and selecting "run as administrator" ??

or go into Control Panel and disable the User Account Control (UAC) as that will give you full administrator privilages, which means when you install it, it should think you are a full admin and not ask again.

worth a try ;)

i like the layout.. think it looks nice, but i wouldnt touch it myself because i got wound up with it whilst fixing a laptop once at maplins, in the end i told the guy to take it away before i smashed the thing..:grin1 he just laughed and said he knew where i was coming from

What wound me up was its insistant and annoying 'Are you sure you want to do that?'

I want to work on my computer not work FOR it.. if i wanted to be bugged everytime i went to do something id just get a wife.. its cheaper than vista anyway..:grin2

uh oh..:laugh2 *runs*

Are you talking about imac or vista??? if imac mine doesnt ask me anything like that all the time.....only asks when i install a programme, Thing with imacs is if you dont know how to use them they can be annoying, if you know they are so easy to use & everything works....no viruses, no updates every 2 mins & no install cd's when you want to connect a device etc etc etc...life's so easy....

the other half has Vista and no end of problems from basic peripheral compatability issues to a very unstable wireless connection. I'm on XP and dont think i'll be changing soon although i must admit there are 1 or 2 visual things i like about Vista theres still too many problems for me to switch over just yet.... but it is getting better.

I use vista. Had a few probs with program compatibility, but mostly sorted now, but thinking back I think I had lots more probs with XP.

Vista looks very pretty but thats about all, everything on it is updated, its my laptop no one else uses it so i am the administrator, ive tried thousands of things off the net to try and fix it and nothing has worked, very annoying because it was fine at 1st and has gone for no apparent reason

Just because you are set to run as an administrator doesnt mean that you get full admin rights where software is concerned, have you disabled UAC in control panel??

In my game, the financial services companies won't install Vista. I understand that they are reluctant as the components that MS have installed to send licence information for downloads mean that you have big holes in security that no firewall blocks.

I personally think that MS screwed up big time with this release and that's probably why SP3 for XP is about to hit general release.

thanks for all the replies, managed to get flash working now for things like youtube. Still having problems with the 4od, but apparently alot of people are having problems with it so will just wait for updates for that.

you need to run Flash as an administrator (right click /properties) then update it. 40d hasn't been working properly for nearly everyone since they updated it last week to fix an exploit.
