well, i use the term 'king' pretty loosely, but anyway...

the 2007 season ended something like this:

so, onto 2008!
after bending the frame back to straight-ish and repairing/replacing the snapped bits, i rolled up to mallory last weekend with a rolling chassis, and assurances that all my parts would be arriving at mallory on saturday for me. Sure enough, in several vans that arrived in the afternoon, was the rest of a ducati! Spent a few hours building her on saturday night, then went out for qualifying sunday morning.

i wasn't really expecting to be too competitive, i considered this to be a test session for me rather than a race, and i even went out on old tyre's from last year. I was quite pleasantly surprised to find that my Ducati qualifying i was just one second slower than at mallory last season, and in the SV qualifying, i'd matched last years time. I followed this up by taking it fairly steady in the race, but matching and bettering my laptimes from last season. Not bad, this was my first time out on the bike, on old tyres, that would put together the night before... whereas last year, i'd already done a couple of trackdays (including mallory) and races.

my positions weren't where i'd like them to be, but that wasn't too important, i was more concerned with the times and regularity. I'd improved over last season's mallory times by a second, with no previous tracktime, but i know i could have gone a second or so faster if i'd had the confidence in the tyres to push at the first corner.

Ducati race 1 - 12th
Ducati race 2 - 13th
SV race 1 - 3rd

yeah, im fine, im frikken indestructible! :D :D last race of the day for me and it was going superbly, battling it out for 7th spot when it all went a bit pete tong, 2 corners from the end of the race...

gridded 19th... DD race 1 finished 12th, SV race 1 4th, SV race 2 2nd, DD race 1 crashed! Race 1 i lapped 4 seconds quicker than last year! made a couple of clicks change to the rear shock, and improved by another second per lap... so pretty happy with that :)

OH, THE CAMBELT WENT ON THE TRANSIT ON THE WAY HOME TOO :(

hmmm, 2 bikes trying to be on the same bit of tarmac at the same time, the one on the outside was always going to be the one edged out onto the grass....!

vid footage of DD class A race 2 can be found at www.curzonweb.co.uk/video/ rightclick and save as. you'll need to view it in quicktime. Its unedited, and the sound goes out of sync with the video, so ya may as well turn the volume down...

brands? dunno... sometime this year... got a bike to fix before assen first, plus gloves to buy (smashed a carbon knuckle guard!!!) and leathers to buy... oh and a trailer to buy too!

ok, i cant be arsed to edit it, so you can have it as it is!

qualifying is now up on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_vmWlEovSA

May as well turn the sound down, cos the sound is out of sync with the video... or turn the sound up, and close your eyes

Theres higher quality available on my webspace... of qually and class a race 2.

Its in .mp4 format, which means you'll probably have to view it in quicktime. Right click and Save As.

www.curzonweb.co.uk/video

class A race 2 ends slightly short of the chequered flag... oops! camera is a small (2.9mm) lens so gives a wider view.

(if anyone has the skills to be able to do something decent with the footage, i'll glady supply the files. It'd be nice to see them worked properly )
