Very nice...

Great car to drive but the revs can get on your nerves if you are on a long journey. Handle like they are on rails and rev like a bike.....

Enjoy.....

How come you went for the Audi sport??? Im presuming the sensible choice???

Well to be totally honest i didnt like the power only kicking in at alot higher rev, it seemed like at low revs there wasnt the punch i wanted, i took the Audi a3 sport out 2.0tdi, and it blew me away mate to be quiet honest, handled like the Type R, was a bit more pricy to be honest but came with a bit more, indepent climit control, leather/swade seats etc, power from start to finish in rev range etc, just prefered the car and was in my price range... I would say the Type R looks more Sporty but over all the A3 just piped it to the post

Fair enough mate, personal preference etc...

Im the opposite i prefer a high revving engine, the a3 sports are nice but performance/power wise the type r wins hands down BUT as you said the audi is a very good car & not slow at all!

A mate of mine has the same as you & certainly not going to knock em whatsover! Think they are cracking cars & look good as well..

Indeed, i look at it like Marmit mate, you either love it or hate it, and its the same thing, the type R has stiffer suspension, but yet the grip on the audi makes up for it, also the seats and layout on the type R are alot more sporty, where the audi is a bit more excutive if you get my drift, great cars them both, and sure would be a nice match round a track but its the TDI/Petrol comp, i only got mine 3 months ago, and its new so dont wanna scratch it so dont feel i have maxed it if you like yet haha

I was fortunate enough to have regular use of a Type-R without having to pay for tyres, suspension, servicing etc. (Mate had one as a company car and we frequently swapped cars - I had a Range Rover at the time)

The only way to really drive the Type-R was like you stole it, it made 100% sense then. For a relaxed drive it just didn't really do it, hence why my mate used to like using my Range Rover.....

Bloody great cars though, his did about 40,000 miles in its first year before he upgraded and then the second driver in his company ran it up to around 100,000 miles including many track days and it just refused to die.
It's appetite for tyres was shocking though, the first set lasted about 6000 miles!

WELLLLLL, talking about tires, i used to be a killer with tires, dont ask me why i just did, i only had a 1.5dci clio and got 7500miles out of a set of tires, in all by time i sold it, it had 18000 on the clock, had changed 2 sets brake pads and two sets tires haha, and i had it from new haha

Exactly! Love the way it screams but for long distances i can put up with it, once your in 6th it's fine, revs drop right down it's just at slow speeds it just wants to go...Im loving it so far, apart from the petrol consumption! But im willing to let that one go for the enjoyment factor!

i found i was ragging the crap out of my slower cars all the time to keep up with everyone and to get places quickly wheras the Cav GSI and vectra i owned didn't need to be ragged to get the same results so i only ragged it when i was in a real hurray or wanted some fun. Mates missus has the A3 TDI Sport and its lovely, mate gets the hump in his scooby wrx sti when she virtually keeps with him.
Another mate had a type r, was lovely but he played with it by constantly re-mapping it on his laptop, eventually it through a piston out. Now on his 2nd Integra Type R, he's not a great driver but thinks he's awsome and has a tndency to play with things he shouldn't.

I love type R's, my first car was a 96 plate aqua green civic - and I am absolutely loved it!

Looking for a new car, never driven one yet - hearing what you have to say about yours means I may just go test drive one at weekend (do you think there is a type r forum anywhere?)

But its not a turbo!! and needs screwing like a 400 to get it to do anything special, admittedly the handling on them is something else :D

That being said i think for the class of car there isnt a lot to touch them when they are fettled with, my brother had one before going over to a Focus RS and even though he is an extremely well qualfied Ford Master Tech he reckons its one of the best cars (hot hatch wise) that he has ever driven, if it werent for the deal he got on the RS he would have kept it :)

Exactly thats why i like it though, hasn't got all the grunt low down in the revs, which makes it so much easier to drive in towns etc, but then when you need the power drop it a gear & it's there....As for the handling i agree Latey, it's sticks to the road like **** to a blanket....

Going to fit the Adjustable camber bolt kit in the next few weeks & get a fast road set up done...Makes a massive improvement to the handling apparently...Then the Cold air Induction kits going on & then a good remap...:grin2
