This is what happens when you pile it into a moving car.....
Went out today to do the Burnham bends & done an overtake that didn't quite work out in my favour.......There was a car coming the other way that i didn't clock....& the result is this........
I got away with a 30ft trip over the top of the car, ground leathers through on shoulder to flesh, broken little finger, broken hand crushed middle finger, shagged ankle, sore nuts & sore leg + bruises....
oh well, my cock up so am going to take it on the chin & get on with it & sort another toy out.....no point crying over it or blaming anyone...I ****ed up!
Big thanks to Mick & Wayne as well for coming out in their own time to pick me & the bike up & help out.:rockon

Before everyone piles in on you, I'm sure you know all too well what you have done, and I very much doubt you did it on purpose.
That looks scary, really scary. Bloody mess you made of that bike.

Sorry to hear that mate, glad your not too badly beaten up. Take it easy!
Hi Jon I just want to echo everyone else's wishes on a speedy recovery and like you and others have said it could have been much, much worse. Good job you went with the Fully Comp option. I can’t see why it should take ages to get paid out.
It looks like the frame is trashed in some of the pics so you might be better off letting the insurance company take it away and move on to something else.
I bet your gonna ache tomorrow!
Good luck mate

Hopefully it will go through quickly, not looking forward to insurance next year though, what with the repairs to the chaps car as well as my bike...
checked the frame over today & cant see any cracks or dents in it so going to keep fingers crossed!

This is one of the reasons i go round those bends at a speed rivalved only by learner riders.. too many blind corners for my liking, and too many opportunities to overcook the corner and end up in the wrong side of the road.. yeah i know thats not what happened, but im not going to start criticising you for it....
i wish you a very speedy recovery mate.:grin3
Please at least brighten up the situation by telling us it was a BMW you hit... come on.. do the country a favor. ;)

Glad your OK M8 , the bike don't look that bad , they might repair it as its a black frame if its not damaged and only minor scuffs they have been known to repaint them , get sudden impact to do quote , better than bike shop , as al bike shop will do is quote out of the Suzuki parts book with sudden impact being bike repairers //painters they look at them differently

Looks like a VERY lucky escape there...
Considerin you hit a car comin the other way and had a 30ft trip through the air ya bike seems un-touched other than cosmetics.
Amazed how you ain't got no wheel/fork damage at least...
Glad ya ok though...;)
Jon like Rembrandt said, I'd get in touch with Sudden Impact for a quote, a lot of insurance company's deal with them now, because of their workmanship.
Did you see their paint work at Bikesafe the other Sunday, quality, absolute quality

Always sucks to wipe out.
Looking at the bike it looks like a total loss to me no matter where it goes (remember that most insurance companies will only repair up to around 70% of the value of the bike cos they take the salvage value away from it). It may be worth waiting for your insurance company to send an assessor before you move it to a repairer especially if you want to keep the salvage as if it is a total loss and at the repairer it will get moved to the salvage company.
Hope you mend quickly.

the assessor will want to see a repair estimate before he will make a decision ,and normally they like to look at them at the place that done the estimate so they discuss it and ask questions about the estmate , an assessor doesn't do estimates only works out the figures

well the bike in my garage & can safely say that it will be staying there!
they can come check it out at mine, not fussed what they want to do as long as they sort me out a bike...

When i had my little, new tyre - wet road incident i had the bike taken straight to my house and the assessor came there and wrote it off straight away as an uneconomical repair.....didnt need and estimate first!
Mend soon fella!!!!

05-05-2008, 02:32 PM
I'd leave it at home. id feel safer knowing where it is and also you wont get charged storage.
Like i said, mine was sitting in the garden for a few weeks and the assessor came to my house, did it all there!!
Your call though dude, see what your insurers say

Keep the bike at your place at all costs!
When my mate Steve parked his Ducati 998S FE under a Peugeot last year it was recovered to a dealer. The assessor went to the dealers, wrote the bike off and signed the salvage over to an agent without even letting my mate know. If it wasn't for him knowing the guys at the dealers well, it would have been taken away. As it was, the lads at Parkies phoned him on his mobile to tip him off and he jumped into a van and collected it. Agent was not best pleased to say the least - he was looking forward to selling the trick bits from a Final Edition Ducati - robbing bast's!
As it was, he got paid out £8500 and bought the bike back from his insurers for £2500. Has spent around £1500 on repairs and paintwork, should be back on the road again within about 4 weeks now. Quids in!:grin2
