View Full Version : My new lid
Rivetts had a massive sale this weekend, so I went and nabbed this £400 quid lid for £209 :) Its a Capirossi rep Suomy Spec1R, so chuffed with it. I grabbed these pics off some website, it looks even nicer in the flesh ;)

Never tried a Suomy lid myself. How does it compare to what you had before?
There's no comparison. Ive been using the same poly lid for so long now.. you put this on and its just so comfortable!
Good buy! How is the noise in the Suomy?
I was trying lids before trying christmas. Not wanting to spend too much, but tried everything and personally found the Suomy and the AGV the best fits. Was gonna get either the Neil Hodgson Suomy or the Max Biaggi Suomy, but decided that because of fit and build quality, went for the AGV V-flyer (St. George's one), very nice lid! Cool patriotic lid! Especially with the cartoon Bulldog!!! :-)

Its too late for u, but for anyone else that wants to buy an AGV helmet, get 1 thats just that lil bit too tight coz from experiance the padding tends to give alot more than other helmets.
Yer, my AGV was just a little too tight, but now is really good fit!
The cheek pads are strange in comparison to others though, in kind of a good way, they are really soft and squiggy (technical term), yet push on your cheeks nicely! Doubt anyone understands what I'm on about, but hey, that's how I find it!!! LOL!
My KBC is the same.
The cheeks feel really squashed but the padding is getting softer.

Pretty much all lids will start off feeling tighter and then give a little. It's the one mistake noobs to biking normally make. Buy their first lid and think it's too tight so go a size bigger, only to find it's getting a bit loose a few months down the road.
Only lids I've ever had are a couple of the early Dainese Ergon's and now use Arai. Had an RX7 but smacked that up at Donington. Replaced that with a Quantum F which hit the deck at Brands (having only worn it a few times, lol) and replaced that with another Quantum F in the old Haga rep flame job in blue.
I must admit, thats all that has been on my mind since i bought it... if i got the right size. The Small was very tight, to the point where if i opened and closed my jaw, i would bite the inside of my cheeks... and the front bit at the top of the lid, really pushed hard against my forehead.
The guy in the shop said the Medium fitted me better.. its not that hard to get on, but its not easy either. It pushes my cheeks in and feels comfortable. Theres no gap between my forehead and the cusion at the top and my head doesnt turn that much at all if i hold on to the lid and try to turn left and right...
I suppose time will tell.

Sounds to me like it fits just right Dan. That's how a new lid should feel, it'll just "bed-in" over a month or so.
If it starts to feel to big just grow your hair a little longer.

Or stuff it full of cotton wool or bog roll
or eat more pork pies and get a fat head!!!
or go the other way and wear the helmet in the bath for a while until it shrinks!!!
(BTW, for any scooter boys, that really does work and it isn't a plight to make u look silly in your bath.... :D  )
