Yep, i've had this playin on my mind for quite a few months now so its time for a change.
As much as i love the GSXR, i've lost the enthusiasm for it, i'm hardly using it lately so its going.

Been looking at a Yamaha XT660X, 2004ish for around 2 and half to 3 grand so would appreciate anyone's views, if you know anythin about em..
I've spent a good few days lookin at these readin up on the reviews, and it sounds more up my alley.. any comments, good or bad welcome though....

My cousin owned one for a while, he loved it, much better than a full on dedicated supermoto as it was more user friendly

I have a soft spot for the xtx its a great bike, fun, reliable with plenty of grunt for the twistys and services on them are less frequent than most, also very comfy.
There is a down side to them though, yamaha seemed to have saved themselves a few quid on cosmetics. The paint work on the engine does look very tired even after about 4000miles. I was constantly cleaning mine (im a clean freak anyway) but the spokes still went rusty . I payed for new stainless steel ones to be fitted in the end. The only other downside is they are abit on the heavy side.
This photo is of my xtx 04 model which I sold last year to a friend of mine who still has it and also love it to bits. I would say though that they are worth every penny and Im sure youll have more fun on one of these, than your head down arse in the air liscence looser gsxr. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Hmmm, those spokes do look a bit on the rusty side, will have to watch out for that..
Well so far, no ones really had a bad thing to say about the xt, so its lookin promisin...

Good luck and show some pics when you get one. They do an orange one you know.

I've seen the orange ones, although i quite like the blue with the gold rims....
Looked on ebay and there's only 1 on there.. Looked up bike trader and there's quite a few on there, mostly dealers though..

Go private mate, There is a throttle censore recall and an dodgy ecu on some of the early ones, If you go private, I found they are alittle more truthful with that sort of thing. I sold my 04 model For £3000 last year, with 5600miles on the clock, p.commander, dynod and lots of extras. Best going for a newer model really as theyve sorted these probs out now.
You must get rid of those hiddious standard cans though.
