As most of you know, i get my buzz from defying the laws of gravity and throwing a 15yr old bike round the racetracks, amongst 20-30 other lunatics!
We have a dillemma. The race club, BMCRC (bemsee), have been really supportive of us in the past and have stuck theyre necks out to get us out on the grid. In order to keep the series alive, we MUST get more bikes out there!
The MZ's were in a similar situation a couple of years ago, not enough MZ'ers to fill a grid and it was looking like they would dissapear. the MZ racers turned it around to ensure that they ALWAYS have a full grid, they also have reserve riders (ie. too many bies for the grid, so some are reserves in case there becomes a free grid spot). They provided cheap hire bikes so that anyone who wanted to give it a try could hire a bike for a few meetings, and offered all the support to the new racers etc.
The TZR's are trying to rally more people to get out there and race.
If anyone has a tzr250 knocking around, get out there and race it! If you dont want to race it, lend it to someone that does!
I know of at least 2 tzr racers that cant race this year and are willing to lend theyre bikes out. If you fancy a go at it, contact the acu, get you're race license and beg/borrow/build a tzr250.
It can be as expensive or as cheap as you like.
The guy who finished 3rd just in front of me on saturday, Nick, he has been racing an aprilia rs250 for about 10 years, always in the SS400 class. His first race on a tzr was saturday! He is now a converted tzr'er and will be buying the bike he borrowed! I think that say's it all about how much fun and how closely competitive the class really is!
If you have any interest in having a go,or any questions, go to www.motofum.net and in the racing section is a thread about tzr racing (titled 'calling all past masters') or contact darrenandjomo@aol.com who is the class rep.
Thanks for reading.
