Quick question. What tyres do ppl have on their (pref sports) bikes and why?

Been looking at tyres coz i need to get a pair asap for my bike as the mot is due and they are very low, seen some new Bridgestone Battlax BT020's going relatively cheap and just seen some Metzler Racetec's and Mitchellin Power Race's and was wondering what people recommend and why? :reading

Good points and bad points please :)

Bridgestone Battlax BT020's, i find these last for ages ( the set Richard got lasted 2 years) and they are good in the wet as well as the dry.

DONT GET THE bridgestone 014's! I have completely lost faith in them! I used to LOVE the 010's! i mean LOVE!!! and when they were dis continued, apparently the 014's were the newer better version.....LIERS!!!! LIIIEERRSS!!! i hate em! Because of this i have decided to go over to the Dark side that is in the Michelin 2ct's!!! Really looking forwards to getting em actually! When i had my G ninja, and i was using it to commute loads.....i decided to try a random wild card Tyre....the Continentals Road Attacks.....And i have to say..i was really impressed with em......there fandabydozious in the rain, grip nice in the dry and last FOREVER!!!!!

ooh well worth a change then... otherwise your wheel will slip on a drain cover in the wet and youll go down..:reading

Anyway, i dont have a sports obviously, mines runing continentals (bicycle tyres) but i have heard great things about the 2ct's so id use them if i could..;)

Haha very funny 2e..................... :(

Looking at some 020's that come with wheels, brand new tyres and nice enough wheels (look better than mine at any rate) But cant work out if mine is a CBR 600 FS or a 600 FW coz it was late registered. Anyone know if the wheels are the same? I know the models aren't far apart and should imagine that these having being taken off a FW will fit fine even if mine is an FS, but knowing the luck im having so far this week, would rather check!

for the amount of riding you do and the type of riding i would have thought Road 2CTs would have been better :)

2CT's are a good all round tyre but there are plenty to choose from now, the Qualifier RR's were every bit as good as the 2CT's and lasted slightly longer too.

The Maxxis Supersport ones are getting good reports too :)

The BT016's seem to be the top Bridgestone now.

Metzeler Racetecs arent supposed to be particularly good for hard riding in the wet but i suppose that depends on who is riding :D

Bt020`s are probably going cheap as they have been replaced by the 21, which is like a caramel in reverse (soft on the outside)
they are dual compound, so better corner grip.
not that much wrong with either on my bike, but they are more leaning toward sports tourers.
BT016 is new softer version dual compound.
to be honest i,d go on a forum specific to your bike and see what the prefered choices are, certain bike tyres seem better on certain bikes.

I thought of that, and ive been on a cbr forum now and then, but never registered, and didnt want to be one of those who registered to ask a question, then never went back afterwards, so thought i would see on here first before signing up to another forum.

I dont really use any other forums but this one (ahhh devotion) :cuddle

I,m a forum slapper!
2x for the Falco,
1 for dirt bike
used to av one for the SV
and this one,
very worth it when you have a problem with the bike, and you can return the favour for others.

road 2ct's all the way, i'll never go back to bridgestone 020's now, they lasted well and ggripped well but they are nothing compared to 2ct's .
grip is out of this world, surprisingly they are awsome in the wet even though there is less tread pattern they are far better as i found out over the last two days. 130 miles in the ****ing rain and they didn't squirm at all, 020's were ok but didn't give me the confidence the new ones do.

hope that helps as we have virtually the same bike.

Your bike is a CBR600 FW model.

Wheels should fit from FM-FW models
Basically wheels from 1991 - 1998.

Hope this helps! :)
