God damn paypal and their stupid security measures..
they have randomly decided to flag up a payment made to me last month, when i sold my ps3.

The ps3 was sold through Ebay buy-it-now for £520, the buyer paid £470 to my email address and £50 on collection.. everything went smoothly, postive feedbacks, all hunky dory, i told paypal to send the money to my bank, and it went into my bank ok..:reading

Now ( a month later), they have started a dispute/inquiry on this payment requesting additional information and 'holding funds' until they have the info??:angrypun

Meaning my paypal account is now reading -£470 and i cant pay for anything on ebay because of it!!!:shooter

Them holding the funds makes no sense as i have already taken the funds out of paypal and into my bank??So they are holding funds that are not there hence reading in negative numbers... and i imagine should the inquiry come back wrong or what not can they take the money from my bank??:reading

Anyone know where i stand with this Stupid company!!!:shooter

Copy of their gay email:

Oh yeah. Paypal!

Law unto themselves.

A DVD camera I bought never arrived. No problem, and followed the appropriate Paypal steps. The sender produced a blatently forged signature on a receipt and paypal found in their favour despite me proving that the signature was not mine and my house could be proved to be empty at the alleged time of delivery.

Given up arguing with Paypal now. They just don't listen.

My credit card company investigated, found in my favour and refunded the cash but Paypal disagreed and my Paypal account is still blocked until I pay them (yeah, right)!

Good luck with them, 2E.
There are websites dedicated to how cr4p Paypal are.

From what you have said Toey...It looks as though they have just done a speratic security check.....to maybe make sure somebody hasnt logged into your account and sent all your paypal cash there there bank account! I would just do what they asked and fill in the information they wanted!!

hmmmmm, I would check the validity of the email? Is it actually from paypal? I had a security check done on TDMtrackdays the other day by paypal and when I didn't get back to an email they actually phoned me! They are becoming very very security minded which I guess is a good thing but does also bring with it a lot of problems like this. In addition, have you checked your bank to make sure the funds did go in? and stayed in? hope you get it sorted!

Ok i FINALLY received a response about this inquiry today..

and the result is...:reading

wait for it.....:grin3

REVERSAL TO THE BUYER!!!:shooter

Meaning, I still owe paypal £470, I have emailed ebay (although they claim paypal is naffall to do with them) but surely as i sold the item through ebay i should be protected against this ****e...

also can they even attempt to take money from me? or is it possible to close my account (with the alledged payment outstanding)?

if not i will just attempt to delete every bit or detail i can (bank details, home address, phone number etc).:grin3

'As you know, we have been reviewing the transaction detailed below. Our
investigation is now complete and we have returned the funds to the PayPal account holder.' I thought that was me.. but obviously not... morons..:shooter

All sounds a bit iffy to me to be honest, if it were me i would be speaking to my bank.

They certainly can't withdraw money from your bank account despite them recalling that transaction, however they can leave you oweing them or someone ;)

Thats what they have done, left me footing a £470 bill so my accounts reading negative, so i cant close it, i might be able to remove my address, bank details, email.. i haven't tried.. ive just 'filed a complaint in the EU' link which amazingly, didnt work.. finally sorted it out and submitted some sort of statement to their 'customer service'.:shooter

Annoying thing is, is seeing as paypal is the only online merchant thing that ebay uses, i cant buy/sell anything with instant payment.. and who wants to do bank transfer nowadays??:grin3

Emailed ebay claiming that as they recommend it so highly, they have a right to protect their sellers.. they told me to file a 'non-paying item' dispute, which i have... contact paypal, and/or get a solicitor/police!:grin1
