i had a day off from work today so as the weather was good i went for a little blast to the burnham bends, on my way back from burnham i took the road that take you through south woodham,im sure you all know the road but anyway a its national speed road and i failed to notice a POLICE CAMERA TRANSIT sitting in the bushes gunning people, i would guess he caught me at about 85 mph BUT does he have a camera on the front of the van to get my number plate? as these vans gun from the back windows?? do you think i will received pionts and fine through the post or have i been fortunate enough to get away? please let me know what you think

Standard practice is to film you from the front then make a note of the registration as you pass. If the bike is registered at your address and owned by you then they have 14 days to serve you with a notice of intended prosecution by first class post or recorded delivery.

It's 14 days from date of offence. Not unusual for them to use 2nd class post.

It does depend on your road positioning though, if you were behind a car you may not have been zapped???

Well you're not out the woods yet. Some of the vans are single crewed, and if they don't have time to write your number plate down then you're ok. Wait the 14 days, see what happens. If you DO get anything, check it for accuracy, then goto the pepipoo forums and fill out the 'wizard' there. You can scan a NIP (notice of intended prosecution) in and they'll check for legality.

Nip down the local paint shop get your bike resprayed, buy a complete new outfit totally different from your old one and deny all knowledge of the incident, they must have written the wrong reg number down !
Hopefully it wont come to that !

I got a speeding ticket once and i changed my number plate, indicators, and exhaust can. When down to the camera office in Billericay and said it wasnt my bike in the picture!
The bloke compared my bike to the picture and then agreed my number plate must have been cloned
The nice chap gave me a letter stating my plate had been cloned incase i got anymore speeding tickets, which i thought was rather nice!

A camera van is quite often in/around the North Fambridge area during the week (This week it was Thursday lunchtime). Also you might see it around St Peters school or the Railway Bridge in Burnham on the same day. Also seen it in Cold Norton and Purleigh. The Rozza’s seem to blitz the Dengie & surrounding area and use the same locations roughly the same time of day.Although the day can vary (normally Tues-Thurs).

Road rats seem to be targeting Burnham EVERY weekend lately, Althorne, Wrekins Farm Shop (halfway round the bends) Woodfords Garage and the lay-bys near St Peters School are all favourite locations…..

I guess any straight bit of road is best for the radar to werk properly? Remember these things are revenue generators under the guise of “Road Safety” So if in doubt stick the speed limit or make sure you can see far enough ahead to slow down in time (if you need to)
