Hi guys and girls,
in January I had to stop at a bike accident, really bad off, (2 bikes involved bothe riders injured and bikes totalled ) on the A 12.
I was lucky enough to be relatively well trained in first aid and emergency assessments and even though I am, I found myself thinking, shall I shan't I , what if I get it wrong?
So if I feel like that, I guess most of you would feel even worse and the odd one may waver and think "what can I do, I don't know how and got nothing to help with"
Let me assure you, everyone can help and quick help and basic first aid can make all the difference to a safe and swift recovery and in some cases is the key to survival, buying time for the emergency services to arrive.
It isn't brainsurgery guys, everyone can learn a few helpfull bits and pieces and feel more comfortable with that kind of situation.

Is anyone interested in being taught the basics?
I'd be happy to do some basic teaching myself and make up a basic small bike first aid kit that everyone can copy for a few quid
Anyone interested?
Let me know :)
THINK about it, it could be YOU next that needs someone to step in and have basic first aid given next

There is a specific firs aid course for bikers called First Bike On Scene. If you google it it will tell you where it is run.

I did a basic one with Essex TRF years ago. Did you know that if you practice putting your girlfriend into the recovery position you mustn't kneel on her hair then try to flip her over, as it can cause temporary baldness and lots of shouting.

St Johns started a national scheme a couple of years ago.
Details here:

My nearest course in July is 46 miles away.

I'd be up for anything you're organising through here too though.

i would be interested, we always carry a 1st aid kit on Euro tours, but to be honest I wouldn,t know what to do in a lot of situations.

We do a fair bit of first aid in the Forces....so if anyone needs to know how to get jabbed with a morphine pen??

I'm interested in what would go in the bike first aid kit though? I've not had to deal with any real time emergency's yet however..

Id be up for this too, as long as I don't have trouble getting to the venue lmao (haven't got a clue of the roads yet). Basic first aid is essential.

the FBOS thing is a good but about £30-£40 for a session. But if you can do something straight forward an with a general kit we can all carry that cost but a few quid then I dare say lots of us WILL be up for that. I know I am due to us going on the ride out in early July.
