bloody lucky to be here typing this . most will know the 127 was shut today as of a serious crash with 2 trucks . well one was me . on my way up 127 this morning 6.15am and bang thought id blown a tyre so had to stop n look . well it wasnt a tyre it was the propshaft uj smashed to bits . that truck wasnt movin anywhere . hazards on phones boss who called back 2 mins later to tell me the recoverys on the way . great i said il just check what uj has gone gets under truck then gets out . walks to the back and am waving the traffic across into the other lane . well low n behold seems the somerfield artic driver cant bloody see me or the ****in great truck in front of him . 55mph not even a hint of brakes he slams into me . im about 36 ton i suppose solid . well u can imagine the rest . but he gets out with as far as i know minor injuries . 1 min earlier i would have been under it . shaking like a bloody leaf guvnor gets me home to relax . still shook up though . look at this pic how did he get out gawd knows . what on earth was he doing . i dont know . asleep .on phone . daydreaming . get the pics on yet will add them later

I was on the London bound side this morning and saw the aftermath....geez the Somerfield cab was virtually unrecognisable and the driver got our relatively unscathed you say!!!!.....lucky lucky man!!!.....any way glad to hear your OK and how the hell he did'nt see you is a mystery to me.......probably texting or similar.....in a way its a good job he rear ended something that big cos if that was a private car or small commercial vehicle I dread to think of the consequences.....

Hope you stopped shaking by now......a couple of days in the sun should see you chilled if thats possible of course...

All the best for now

news report availiable here.. http://www.echo-news.co.uk/display.var.2359747.0.a127_closed_for_seven_hours_ after_crash.php

Reminds me of the A13 yesterday.. i had run out of petrol (my speedo had broken and i had done more miles than i thought ;)) and managed to roughly ride to a layby (choked it ;)) whilst i was waiting for a petrol can to be brought to me, a spare wheel fell from the bottom of a car (the rack fell off) and rolled across three lanes of traffic towards me and my bike... It came to about a couple of metres of me when a squel of brakes and car slammed into it head on..

Fortunately a highway truck was behind them and closed off that lane and the owner Reversed back into the layby and proceeded to jack the car up to get his spare wheel back:laugh1

Police called, half an hour later still no responding police car, the driver and the other guy drove off in the end with details....thats the police, you gotta love em!! ;)

SradChris46
24-06-2008, 05:41 PM
why phone the police for that? they only cause problems, let owners deal with it, then be on their ways, that way no rubber necking and no road closures which means no aggrevated drivers hating the police for causing miles and miles of tailbacks

This comment in the echo however, nearly made me wet myself :laugh1

The Police should've turned their backs for 30 mins and The Dale Farm Pikey's would have had it all away ......

Holy **** dude glad your ok though. My guv says "if you breakdown get the **** away from the motor we can buy a new one, Thats what we pay breakdown cover for".
Years ago we had a chap getting he tools from the back of his van when a car hit the front of the van killed the chap straight away.
Just glad something told you to get out from under that lorry and you were in a safer place, Thank god no one was killed..
Bet you were shocked to see the driver come out of the other waggon. Bet you were too scared to look in there though.
The prats on the echo need putting into a container and driving off dover cliffs.
