1999 Yamaha YZF-R1

Registered on a W plate.

Last 12,000 of them miles were done commuting from Southend to London and the occasional weekend ride.

Previous owner had covered approximately 5000 miles in 7 years as confirmed by most of the MOT certificates, it has a partial service history but since owning it (when it showed 7700 miles) it has had an oil change every 3000 miles using Morris Supersport 4 semi-synthetic oil, it also had new iridium plugs fitted at approximately 15,000 miles when it got serviced prior to having the exhaust system fitted and then setup by HM racing.

Specification.

The price

£3400

Now that might seem high to some for an 8/9 year old bike, however this bike for its first 8 years never saw any rain whatsoever, it wasn’t until I got it that it covered more than 1000miles a year (i bought it beginning of May 2007).

For its age it’s immaculate and they don’t come much cleaner than this, specifically because I tend to strip a bike of everything even for a weekly clean.

There are a few niggles, a tiny crack on the undertray/seat unit (difficult to notice) where my best mate became a not-so best mate having tried to lift the back of the bike for me (when setting the sag) and decided to try and lift the bike off the ground!

A few marks on the wheel paint where chains have been put through the wheels over the years, considering the paint is now 9 years old I am surprised its lasted as long as it has.

The previous owner fitted a Sola alarm, I have never had it working as I never needed to alarm it, but I have the keyfob all the same.

The rear disc bolts are rusty (okay so I am being petty now!).

Everything on the bike works as it should, the engine is a monster and runs sweet as a nut, the exhaust being a race type one is loud but not ridiculous (okay I am lying its loud, but I never got tugged once with it).

Still not convinced by the price????

Am i chucking anything else in with it for that price?

Okay what else comes with the bike then??

The original exhaust silencer (which is unused bar delivery mileage)
The original exhaust headers and a working Exup valve (cables are still fitted to the bike)
An immaculate Carbon Akrapovic 60mm (race) silencer and link pipe (which was fitted when I bought it).
An original air filter
Pillion footrests
Pillion seat
Original indicators
A new oil filter
A new set of Koyo tapered headrace bearings (I bought them in case I needed to replace them when I was servicing it).
The original chain adjusters
A spare swingarm and rear spindle (bought these because I was going to polish a swingarm up and fit it)
The original rear shock (in excellent condition)
Probably a few other bits and pieces too
Oh and last but not least a full set of Harris Paddock Stands as I don’t need them, but they are less than 1 year old.

And if you can haggle after that lot then go for it, I enjoy a good chinwag but the price wont come down as this is a ‘soon to be’ classic carbed R1 that lives up the reputation it earnt when they came out in 1998, this one is just a bit better ;)

The bike as it stands has only done probably 500 miles since January this year, and that was by someone else as I haven’t had a chance to ride it.
It is currently stored at a friend’s place in Essex and I can’t justify using it as I work in London and spend my weekends all over the place.

The buyer will need to collect, prior to which it will be cleaned and run properly with new fuel.

I have a few pictures of the bike from when I first got it, but you would need to email for these as I haven’t got them up on the web at the moment, I do however have a good (but small) picture showing its general cleanliness and condition as you can see
