a pair of jeans ! steel toecap CAT boots and me bike jacket and gloves obviously! cept they wernt much use as the jacket rode up! and the gloves fell off lol! but then rolling at 80 odd mile an hour down the road lol and lets just say there is no ass left in the jeans! so b4 i get back on a bike (whilst im recovering) im going to invest in a set of leathers new gloves, helmet! everything then ill work on me bike! might get a ZXR400, all i can say is i now cnt sleep i wish i took out that dam insurence that u n tark have got coz right now id be getting paid! but oh well! jamie seems to rekon that im made of rubber as i still avent broken n e thing! lol! but i rekon that was due to ma commando roll at high speed!

ouch! remember that folks! leather jackets will rise up. u can get good 2 piece suits that zip together at the back to prevent them sliding up. gloves - make sure they fasten around the wrist. i know its like teaching ya to suck eggs n all that, but until it happens, we all assume it'll never happen to us.... if ya skint, check out ebay or loot for decent leathers (not rubbish ones) rather than buying new.
fwiw, my axo leathers (£600) have now had 8 crashes and still going strong. ok, there well scuffed, but i have been pretty much uninjured. my rst gloves (£70, 4 years ago...) have also been in 8 crashes, still fully useable. my sidi vertabra boots (£120) were bought also about 4 years ago, still good... if it werent for them, no doubt i would have broken my ankle several times by now, worse i have done is sprained/strained/bruised my foot.
it IS worth spending money on good gear.
i had a crash back in 1990 when i was 17, wearing jeans and t shirt. i still have scars today. luckily (??) i went straight into the side of a u turning vehicle and stopped dead, smashed my femur, and my left arm went through a window, so lots of glass scarring (in fact, there is still lumps of glass in my arm). put a nice dent in the roof of the volvo where my head impacted. had i clipped the car and slid down the road, i have no doubts that i would have lost a helluva lot of skin.
sure, leathers would not have stopped me breaking the femur i reckon, but would have saved me having several pints of blood having to be pumped into me, they would have saved me having 28 stitches in the left arm as well.
glad you are not too badly hurt spider, being 'uncomfortable' is very lucky compared to what could have happened.

sounds nasty!! hope ya get well soon and back on ya bike.
What are the forks like? I need a set of 38mm Yamaha Forks! Please tell me there are straight!! :?
Oh and the front wheel and brakes would be nice too!
hope you have a speedy recovery Spider - but I can only applaud what Trouty said - did you miss my soap box rant to Jamie - or just choose to turn the volume off?! - I'm not gonna start again as i'm sure the pain you are in right now is testemant to the fact that you will ride in full leathers etc. in future.....
Glad you got off so light hun - i know it don't seem that way with a bent bike and body - but i have buried too many mates in the last few years......think on......nuff said.

lol ok first one wasnt my fault got pulled out on! couldnt do n e thig bout it second one was kinda my fault i should have been ready for a gust of wind after overtakin a lorrie but i was unprepared and was blown to the center! lol and the bike aint completely wrecked wouldnt take a lot at all to get it road worthy! but i think ill get an enduro or supermoto or summink just incase i come into contact with a kurb again and as for clothing i was wearing protection the only bitch was it rode up on me i know u all wanna get on ya soap boxes! and preech but i was actually wearing protection i was just unlucky that it rode up!, i was wearin boots! which saved me ankles ! and yeh i was wearin jeans which protected me pretty well as ive only got a little gash on me knee! like when u fall ova and cut ya knee the only bit that didnt protect me was the thing that should have which was the jacket which was a full CE approved armoured jacket! well there is ma defensive rant im not sayin it wernt ma fault coz it was i should have been paying more attention to the wind ! but its ova and done now and i survived! with minimal injuries for the speed and impacts etc!

but its ova and done now and i survived! with minimal injuries for the speed and impacts etc!
.....thats the main thing......live to ride another day spider....the rest is just bits of metal and stuff, when it comes down to it! :D
Question for you? do you think that if you'd had m/c trousers with a zip on the waistband, onto your jacket, that would have saved you? I am sceptical, that these zips do anymore than stop the draught, I think with the impacts etc involved the zip would probably rip off!, I think the only thing to save you scraping your back would be one piece leathers, whats your opinion??
Hope you're starting to feel a bit better.

erm i rekon they woulda done a better job than not avin em! when i crashed b4 i was in full kit and i just basically bounced! but then that was inpact with the side of car im not sure bout 90mph slidin! but hey maybe ill have thg eoppetunity to find out and ill let u know lol!
I dont think you want to find out again!
But from my vast experience from sliding down the track at 100+ its good to have quality leathers on!
Savd my ass and back everytime!

a friend of mine had a nasty off a while ago - he is still recovering from it
the only thing that saved his life was the fact that he was wearing full leathers
you can see the pics here - or mabe ask him some advice about crashes, he has had more than his fair share
ALWAYS WEAR YER FECKING LEATHERS!!!!!!!!

Now hobbling about without crutches. The bike is still in a bad way
