Rusty Petrol Tank!

Hello everyone
I've just drained the rusty petrol out of my tzr 125 petrol tank (1988)
and there are two finger sized holes near the tap.
is it possible to weld these holes, (paint job is fixable) Also the tank has been standing for a while and is now got rusty bits in it.
Is there anything i can do to get rid of all the rust and get a clean tank?
or is it f****d?
any sugestions welcome

Welding it can be difficult if there are fuel vapours arround!

If there is lots of rust inside the tank it will block up your fuel filter all the time.

You could try and fix it by a few other methods.

Fibreglass would be the best bet. :wink:
