jus wondering if u lot could help me out
i jus picked up a CBR600F (2002) for quite a nice price - but a few things are concerning me and im not sure if its a problem or not

1/the chain clearance / centre stand - when i go over a bump in the road the centre stand pings down then up and hits the chain while the bike is moving (is this ok ???)

2/ the handling and suspention feel fine - but i hear a rattling noise coming from the front forks when driving sometimes

3/ when in neutral with the cluch in - ticks over fine , pull the clutch out and i can feel a slight increase in vibration - the revs stay the same

4/ the tick over ticks over at 1.5k in normal conditions ( normal?)

5/driving at 70mph - i am in 6th gear at about 6k revs (normal?)

6/while driving thro town - all the girlies look at me , but when im parked with my helmet off , no one seems to give me a glance ??

can someone please tell me if this is normal ?

1/ Check that the Clearance of the chain is set right and that your stand is in the position that it should be when up and see if there is some kind of rubber stop for it to rest against .

2/ See if you can hear this noise when not moving anywhere and just pushing the forks up and down whilst sat on the bike. It could just be your springs touching the sides of the stantions, the washer on the top of the forks or something. You could always get a setup guide out of a mag and check the settings, sag etc etc.

3/ Sounds very nomal to me. When the clutch is in the engine is running free. When you let the clutch out, even in nuetral there will be some drag, causing the engine to Labour just a little more. This will cause the slight vibration.

4/ A tick over at about 1.5 sounds fine too. I think it should be about that on the road bike. You could tone it down to about 1.3 if you wish but when you back the throttle off to slow down you will get more engine braking. I have my CBR race bike set to 2500 at tick over.

5/ I have lkooked at the gear ratios and this isn't too bad either. The speed against Revs isn't linear so will change as you get faster or slower. If you want more info on this I will send you a spreadsheet that you can work it all out on.

6/ I have never suffered from this but it might be to do with you being ugly?
