Hi Rob,
Ive only ever had an Italian TZRR which is fairly similar to the English TZR you are looking to buy. They are great first bikes, nice and powerful if treated correctly.
£995 is quite a high price for an H reg... do you have any pictures or know of any modifications made to it? Ask if it has a ypvs servo, its mileage and the condition of the faring and let us know if you get the chance.
As for things to look out for.... when you test ride the bike, check for excessive vibrations - you shouldnt feel too much vibration in your knees, feet and hands. If you do, chances are the main bearings are either gone or on their way out. Check the exhaust for blue smoke.... blue smoke means burning 2 stroke oil which shows you the oil pump is working.
erm.... cant think of anything else really. There shouldnt be any wierd clonking noises coming from the engine either.
Hope this helps.

8) cheers for that info.
i dont have any pictures at the moment but i can say that it is in very good condition well the bodywork is all original and its very tidy.
it has a ypvs but i dont know about a servo al ask him today.
I have had a nice bike like this before but the piston kind of melted the radiator spung a leak at 80mph whilst going up hill and i didn`t want to stop i thought it might make it home but i was wrong and i loved the bike
a HONDA NSR125RK this model had a fully working power valve and it kicked in at about 6000 revs it was nearly better than sex.
The price of the repair put me off honda`s for a while
So i thought i would get a tzr125
cheers

here are the details from the website about the tzr125..
Yamaha TZR125
1991 H - 28000 Miles
Features
2 Stroke
Full Fairing
Original Paint
Clean Bike
Red and White Paintwork.
Super condition.
Excellent value.
Front and Rear disk model.
£995
Nice... i didnt know they did an English TZR with rear disk brakes.
As for the powervalve servo, that effectivly does what your nsr used to do - it opens up at about 6000 revs, giving you that lovely bit of accelleration :) Without the servo, it will either be always shut (restricted) or always open (un restricted). With the servo, it shuts when you start the bike and opens up at aprx. 6000 revs.
The wiring loom already accomodates the vpvs servo, so if it doesnt come with it, its fairly simple to fit another one.
Have a look about for the TZR125R aswell.. it looks a right nice bike

Being an import, they can be a nightmare to get parts for, but the majority of engine parts are identical to the English DTR125R (2001 model) so ive been told.
Good luck if you get the TZR, you'll have loadsa fun :D ... and make sure you bung sum pics of it up here so we can see it in all its glory

My first ever bike was a GP100 - lovingly known as 'Tha GP Thou'
It was a bit of a rat bike. It had a Suzuki Z50 tank and a GP125 front end coz it got crushed when a bus reversed over it! LOL!
It had a habit of blowing the baffles out of the end of the Micron exhaust pipe. Usually on the bypass!
Such a kickass bike tho. Only cost me £60.
Strangley enough, then I bought an Italian NS125F which had a 180cc big bore kit installed. Its off the road and has been for almost 3 years coz I was doing it up and got fed up. It will live again one day......
