"It doesn't matter who you are or what sort of bike you ride you can't fail to be impressed by the NC30. It is quite simply the best sportsbike under 600cc, with the possible exception of the Aprilia RS250. Beautifully engineered, beautifully built and beautifully finished, it exudes such quality that you wonder how they built it at the price.

Reliable? Absolutely, assuming that it's been properly maintained. The charging system is a bit suspect, but that's it. Check the trueness of the wheels - they distort easily.
[Note: Regulator/rectifiers can fail, just like the bigger VFRs, that's all].

Competition: There isn't any, really. The NC35 is even more gorgeous (and expensive), an utter work of art. The CBR400 is a contender. It's another wonderful miniature road burner with superlative handling and a tough engine, but it just doesn't have the quality feel that you get with the NC30."

I agree it is the best 400 out there. Yours looks like a minter too.

In the formula 400 class the ZXR400 and the VFR400 are the only contenders, but the VFR is much better on style off the track.

Dont crash it!! :cry:

er all i know is wen you buy the restriction kit you sposed! to get the certificate! then send it to the insurence men! so if it got one! but no tifficate then i spose you can take it to eigher ur local dealer or the nearest dealer and ask em if you can have one made i spose not sure havent got that far yet!

Go to a local main dealer - they will check it over and give you a certificate. If they dont, they will be able to fit a new one for you - they dont cost much.

Love the bike mate... looks great - you should bring it down to one of the site meets.

Thanks for the comments on my bike - and welcome to the forum. Post a mesage in HELLO.

nah, the tri arm is to be avoided if at all possible unless it comes with a superb service history! the gull arm is far better.

nc23=tri arm
nc21=early vfr
mc18=early nsr250
mc21=nsr250 (nice!)
nc29=gullarm
nc24=middle vfr400 (exhaust on right?)
nc30=late model vfr400(exhaust on left)
nc35=rvf400 (mmmmm)
rc30=vfr750
rc45=rvf750 (MMMMMMMM!!! oh yeah baby!)

i think????????? summat like that anyways

the restrictor on a nc30 is 4 washers on the carb. These should only take 2 hours at most depending on your tools ect.. beleave me they are really simple to remove. a manual will help but i managed without (and each washer costs 35 quid each.) first off if you want to check if your bike is fitted with them you need to

1. remove all the back fairings, seat, ect.. (on one go)

2 remove the petrill tank.

3. remove the top off yor air filter and take out the filter.

4. now you should have 4 holes leading to the carbs, there will be a cylinder on a needle blocling most of the hole.

5. using a long screwdriver push the cylinder sideways

6 now at the same time open the throtle fully and tou shold be able to see a round wassher with a hole half the size it should be if this is there its restricted.

To remove them

7. now you will need to remove the small side pannels from each side (3 screws each)

8. locate where the washer is by using a long screwdriver to guage the depth down the hole. it is where the carbs are linked to the rubbers. you should be able to get to the rear jublie clips easily (the top one off the two) and the front left is quite easy aswell

9 to remove the front right you will need to slacken the rears and lift up the carbs. (tilting them frward) now you should be able to get to the front right clip slacken this and you should be able to get to all 4 washers,

10 now reverse the process ensuring you put the vacume pipe back on the petrol tank (if you dont it will cause an air lock in the fuel system!!)

just make shore you take your time.. hope this helps

I absoloutely love my CBR400RR-R NC29, i got offered it from my wanted advert in MCN, it had 11,000 genuine miles, 1 owner since imported in 94, and fsh

It also was one of 50 NC29's to have the factory Honda anniversary colous, so he wanted good money for it, i eventually got it for a good price,and intended on just selling it, until i rode it, i fell in love

I prefer a blast round the twisties on that than the R6 or R1, cos you have to ride it more competitevly to keep up with modern bikes

And there is nothing better than passing a brand new R1 on a corner on a 400 with a huge grin on your face

The NC29 is the most expensive of the 400's, in Ride magazine a few months back they featured it, and said "expect to pay up to £3500 for a mint one"
