View Full Version : oil pump settings
Hi,
The plug keeps fouling up after about 30 miles on my TZR125R.
I think it's because the oil pump setting that's connected to the throttle cable isn't right, but I'm having a problem figuring out the correct setting for it (it's the 4fl pump).
The picture in the "oil pump" post is great, but I've got the UK model and it's different, so if anyone knows what the right setting is or anyone that would, please help, it's just eating spark plugs and stopping 1/2 way through a journey!

yer, it's a 1996.
Kind of annoying, you'd have thought that being a UK one it would be easier to find stuff like this, but I can only find the settings for the imports!
It's getting real annoying, coz it's just sitting in my garage, so any help please...?
Is there no way you can take the cover off the oil pump and take a piccie?

unfortunately my little digital camera cant seem to focus in on the little oil/throttle adjuster setting thing. it's similar to yours, but it hasn't got that little sticking out to show. mine has just got a small fixed line on metal part on the inside of the bike that runs at right angles to the disc itself, then the disc has about 4 different markings on it that i'm guessing are meant to correspnd to the line, but not sure what any of the markings mean and where it's supposed to be set at when the throttle is at rest!
that probably makes no sense to you, coz i can't really explain it all that well, but hey... maybe wen it's daylight 2moz, can see if i can get some half way decent pictures of it!

Hi, no I didn't manage to get any piccies (camera didnt like the close ups of the oil pump setting bit). But, I got a microfiche from Yamaha for the bike and found out from that and also noticed the powervalve was broken (now fixed) and also reckon that the oil seel is broken and is sucking gearbox oil in, coz as your at low revs, u c blue smoke (right amount) but as you rev it up high, there's white, got one coming 2morrow, so I should hopefully be back on soon! :D

ok its not a hard job but dang not an easy task ethier.
Yup! well, it's all done now!!! I'm now using it and all is running smoothly (touch wood)!!! :lol:

Are you aware that the e-mail you just sent is 4Mb !!! LOL I will see if i can reduce the pictures and then i will put them up.
I'm only allocated about 10mb for my whole site.

well if you decrease the pics at your end and then re-send them it might be better.
Its up to you. I will have a go but if you send me some more then even better. Try for just less than 100KB per pic. Thats what all my large racing photos are. :wink:
I have mad them smaleer ect. But you can FCUK off cos that is nicer looking than mine. No i'm not putting them up.

Plus you know you are gonna have to put a www.Tarkracing.com and a www.TZR125.com sticker on dont ya. Then take another pic and i will swap them.

LOL!!! :lol: :lol: :lol: yer, i like the paint job too! my idea as well! ....well, i tell a lie, i saw a TZRR up north somewhere with a knackered engine, but had a dream machine paint job (that was quite simliar to the one i decided on for my bike, with a few alterations coz i didn't like some bits)! cost me a fair whack less too i'd guess (dad's mate did it for me)! :lol: I'm well chuffed with it! took in the region of 6 months tho! with minute amounts of running time between breakages! certainly turns heads anyway!
It looks really nice mate - I remember when you contacted me months ago with pictures of it when it was in a bit of a state..... what a turn around!
