Okay so having had a scoot about the place and having a read of what preference of rubber you all like (although my money is definitely spent with Pirelli or Dunlop) is there anywhere in the Saaaarf East that is recommended for not just the tyre fitting (ride in ride out cos i cant be assed taking the wheels off :D ) but also the balancing, too many times i have had to get the wheels balanced again cos of shoddy service, the service i can live with but the ton-up wobbles i cant :D

idea of prices seeing as i am hoping to move back over to this neck of the woods from Wiltshire might be an idea too ;)

allenbys in chelmsford are good. my tyres are different than yours so will cost less i think as theyre smaller. it was £180 ride in ride out fitting, with balancing. they even told me my pads needed doing, and if i answered my phone they would have fitted them with no extra labour charge.

cheers for the tips guys, i was going to use FWR or Crossan Motorcycles (Big company in NIreland) until i managed to get a deal on a pair of D208 (not the RR's as i need to get a bit of mileage out of these ones for a change :D )

and for £169 all in for a ride in ride out fitting, with no appointment necessary i was swayed into getting it done over this neck of the woods :)

cheers for the input anyway as i will undoubtedly end up having to use the tips in the future when i move down to Saaarfend again :)

It would be a bit of a trek to get there, that being said some of the roads in this neck of the woods are worth riding out to anyway ;)

The place is called MichelDever tyres and is just off the M3, so as i said a fair way to go, to give you a rough idea from Southend early morning it would take me in the car around 1hr 15mins to get there, on a bike, knock about 10 mins off :D

looking at their website, they also have a workshop trailer that goes to the shows and does "leave yer bike here" tyre fitting :)

but at least they would be scrubbed in by time i got home. :D i think ive just found an excuse to go to a show this year

well there you have it :)

with the scrubbing in mind, when i needed a set before, i actually bought some off Ebay that had seen some track action, they were listed as having done 8 laps, not too shabby and certainly in good nick

well you pay the price i suppose, but most places i spoke to wanted upwards of £180 for Diablo's anyway, D208's give a good (ok i am dreaming slightly :D ) nileage return compared to the obvious Diablo and Corsa route and when all is said and done, its not like i am going to be on these tyres for more than a few months with my mileage :D

Hi Guys,
There is a specialist bike tyre company in Boxted, near Colchester called loose wheels. They do balancing too. I used them for the tyres on my fighter (Dunlops 208's, 120 front 190 rear £170 ish) and for my TRX (Bridgestone 014's 120 front 160 rear for £190 ish...) and for people who can be arse to take their wheels out the fir and balance for about a £10 I believe. 01206 272653.

Hope this helps

No mate, that was on the bike and ready to trundle off in to the sunset... (slowly for the first 100 miles, just in case!!)

Sorted m8, at least i know where to go for my next lot then, just a thought and as you were mentioning them, the BT014's how well do you rate them? i havent tried them but have never really faulted Bridgestone before, its just that there has always for me, been better tyres out there.

Hi mate,
I really liked the BT56, thought the 010 was the nuts and think the 014s seem even better on current tests although I haven't really opened it right up yet given the amount of crud on the roads. For me they provide a decent level of grip especially after a mile or two to get really warm and give me a load of miles for the money. Found the 020s a little hard in cooler temps but for day to day spot on. If I only used the bike for scratching and playing at weekends I would go for the SS compound, but too many miles on the A12 and A120 mean they aren't an option... Like 208s now on the fighter, but think the Bridgestones make things that little bit more predicatable...

Paid, £167 all in the other day, for that i got a full check up on the rear end of the bike while he was there, gave me a report on what he thought may need attention in the near future (blank piece of paper ;) :D ).

Service was fantastic and for a set of D208's i cant complain at that price, but all the info given in here has been saved, with a bit of luck i get sorted out with a new job shortly and i will be giving my money to one of them in the future :)
