have a gsxr600 2000 srad, i have had a few problems with the poor girl, i first noticed that when slowing down from speeds for a set of traffic lights say when i came to a hault the thing died completely, the revs dropped off, bike went silent and cut out, so i would start it up again, ride of and then 100 yards down the road it done the same.

then i noticed that when travelling at constant speeds of around 70mph the bike sounds like its not fuelling properly at around 6000 rpm it sounds like its chocking, then the power band kicks in and its ok.

finally i noticed today that it seems to happen in the wet, i previously thought that the problem was due to either carb iceing, the bike not properly being set up for the aftermarket can (which i didnt fit) or it just being plain gay.

any thoughts guys??

carb ballance is the 1st point, then maybe a re-jet. But it might not need that.

Could be an electrical fault. the wet could be getting in and the ignition not strong enough when the revs die down. Try WD40 or something to get the moisture out of the coils, spark plugs etc etc.

i found the problem apparently it is common in this model of the imported versions, it turns out it wasnt the water it didnt like but the cold. the UK model apparently has a heating syste that heats the air, the impors dont so the air is too cold for the carbs. i also had a new cam chain tensioner fitted to my bike and since then the problem has gone away but the weather is still cold.
