hiya, i went to john pease in braintree last week with £2000 in my pocket looking to put a deposit on a bike, there was about 5 salesmen all doing nuthing and not one of them came over to help me out, they have a seperate showroom for used bikes so i went over there and they just left me to it, there was no1 exept me and my mate in this showroom of about 100 bikes! i realy was tempted by a few of them but thought fek it i wont bother if they cant even be bothered to come and help me out. I bet if i was a middle aged bloke then they would have been all over me but im only 20 so i guess they didnt think i was a serious buyer?!
sorry but i had to have a moan about them!
search for my next bike goes on..........

i am very unhappy with john pease chelmsford. firstly my bike had a fueling prob so i booked it in and they came back with no solution but that it needed a new cam chain tensioner so i ordered one along with a chain and sprocket set, 3 weeks later i chased em up and i ws told they would all be in in a matter of days, so i phoned them at the end of the week to fing that my chain and sprockets were in my they hadnt even ordered the cam chain so i ordered it again. time passed and i phoned em, thats when they decide to tell me that they wont get me the part as my bike is an import. why couldnt they tell me that at the start.
weeks later i called them about paint codes, did they help me no, what a surprise!!

ive had the same thing with them, that john pease is only good for buying leathers etc in the shop upstairs cos they always help and know what they are talking about. I got my bike from silverex in braintree, there really helpful and resonably well priced for bikes and doing work to them. they have always got bikes outside, go check them out.

John pease at braintree always used to be overpriced and there salesmen aint particularly interested.
Although Moto Primo over here is completely the opposite, they jump on u as soon as you walk thru the door, but in their defence as soon as you say ur just looking they leave you alone, although theres always someone close by should you need help
If ur looking for a good bike shop in ur area try bridge street motorcycles in witham last time i looked they had some nice bikes in there

I've found the same thing with John Pease, on the occassion that I did get the van driver guy to gt a salesman to talk to me, the guy was so codesending that I just walked away from him while he was talking at me, I decided then I would never buy a bike from there.
......and as for Bridge street Motorcycles............it was them that took 10weeks to rebuild my lads moped engine under warranty, then it still wasn't right, the clutch came loose on the crankshaft, as did the generator ............I agree they have some tidy looking bikes but if it goes wrong......start praying

ive just been reading all the posts about John Pease in Braintree and Chelmsford, ive found that all the dealerships in chelmsford seem to be condesending towards me, i think because im only on a 125... anyone got any hints for a friendly dealership as close to chelmsford as possible... or anyways to get own back on the dealerships for being rude?? lol especially bits n pieces who always seem to give different answers everytime i go back in there, for exaple, i had two quotes from them to derestrict my bike, one of them said £100, one of them said £300  annoying!

the best shop in chelmsford is without a doubt allenbys. the guy there is so friendly and willing to help, he even let me use his stands and tools to do my front wheel bearings and he helped me with no charge. and they have a good selection of tidy, used bikes. even have a ride in ride out tyre service. if only they did MOTS . its near travis perkins if you need to know, used to be chelmsford motorcycles.
bits and pieces are awesome. they steal your petrol. i know 2 people who have gone in for some work with a full tank and left with just ebough to get to the nearest garage. they are good for clothing though.

Yes I've been into Allenbys and I found him helpfull and friendly.
....However, I am a bit older than most on here and he did say he gets lots of youngsters in looking at the 400 sports bikes but low takeup, I was in looking for a bike for my Son so maybe he took me a bit more seriously.
But I give 'em a thumbs up :!:

I too find a problem with John Pease in Chelmsford. I have been in there several times and they always seem to be unhelpful and a bunch of w*nkers. It seems to be full of apprentices, not that, that’s a bad thing but the young apprentices in there don't seem to know anything and are chav like and unhelpful.
I bought my leather trousers in there a couple of weeks back, they were so unhelpful! As they were my first pair of leather trousers i didn't know how they were meant to fit properly, what to look for, they stretch once worn in etc. I asked and the kid said... "yer, erm erm so that they fit erm erm yer", well that’s really helpful! I did buy them from there in the end and managed to get £15 off from blagging but o well.
Many of the dealerships in Chelmsford don't seem to be that helpful, Hadlers seems to being sliding down hill, voyager (bits n pieces) rip you off and lie, John Pease are unhelpful. They only other one i know of is Newcomb’s, but have herd people say they are a bit expensive.

I've nothing but respect for hadlers.
Very knowledgable staff (as long as you ask the old bloke). Always friendly (as long as I'm with my dad), often give a decent discount.
They do their MOTs very thoroughly though which is a shame...
And one day, the VTR1000 SP-1 in the window will be mine...

I took my son to Pease in Chelmsford to buy his first bike. I found them to be uninterested, and unhelpful. Bearing in mind, we were buying a brand new bike, for cash, I expected a little more help and service than we got!
Less than 1 year later, after following all the service intervals, the engine blew. (Aprillia RS125) :( . After much argument Pease finally agreed it was a warranty problem, and eventually replaced the engine.
After passing his test, a bigger bike was called for, so we went to Pease in Braintree. What a difference! A second hand CBR 600, similar money to the first deal. Although I hovered in the background, my son handled the transaction, and was treated politely, and with respect, even to the extent of being advised against a particular bike, as it had been "hard used", and liable to break down. I respect honesty from anyone, and on that basis alone would have to say that Braintree is a far better bet than Chelmsford

glad he never went back to john peese, and must say will never do so again.

Gaz did he tell you that hes got a load of almost new bits for the teezer 250?? he broke a 600 mile one a while back and still has most parts.
Just to add my tuppence-worth, I can vouch for Newcombe Brothers in Chelmsford. Not sure if they're expensive, but you pays your money and takes your choice...
I've taken my old blade and both Dukes there at one time or another and had quick, friendly service. If you've got a Ducati, however, I cannot recommend Tecmoto enough. They are an absolutely class outfit, not like those wasters at Casoli Moto.
Tecmoto are based on the A12, just past the Brook St (M25) roundabout heading towards Romford...

John Pease are absolute rubbish. I asked about a price for one of the used bikes in there, a GSXR750 Srad, which had been down the road on its right side, the guy said £3650. I said, do you realise its damaged and he said no, he then gave me a price of £3000 as for a few hundred quid spent by me I would have a mint bike. Correct I would but as the top dealer price for a good nick one back then was £3000 he was a joker!!
All in all I found the bikes sales guys to be rip off merchants, they also offered me rubbish money for my trade in which I subsequently bettered by £400.
Would never buy a bike from them as I would always have that feeling of an intrusion in my back side!!
On the other hand the parts and clothing guys upstairs are superb, ultra chatty and helpful an always happy to get a brew on for you.
For all my bike work I used Moto Tweeks in Chelmsford, Nige the guy who runs it is a top guy who will always repair rather than randomly replace and does the odd bit you don't ask for if he spots something amiss. He did my tight gear shifter for me for a fiver!!

Mate not being funny but the guys upstairs in the parts department are ****ing useless & cant even order simple products.
As for the trade in value, pease's will start off at high prices & crap trade in prices but they will do a deal with you if your willing to play the negotiating game, I got a wicked deal on my K6 after a bit of bartering & a good trade in on my old bike......i picked up my k6 brand new for Under 6k & two years free servicing

I have shopped in allembys in chemsford. The guys helpful and reasonable.
Newcombe brothers in chelmsford a ****e. The boss is overly pushy. Id seen my gixa in there 2 months prior to buying it. He lied and said it was new it. He also said it was a part ex. I later found out it was one of the lads bikes who worked there. They sold it to me with a shock that had NO gas in, which was dangerous. Then blamed me for adjusting the preload. THEN replaced the shock with a shock from a 750 model in the show room. With no intention of getting a new one for the 750. The boys in there are uninterested and know very little about the bikes they sell.
Id recommend bike world in southend. Very good fellas, very reasonable prices and part ex rates. Im on my 3rd bike from then and cannot fault their service. They stock a good range of bikes also.

We have used John Pease in the past and found them to be reasonable in their prices, so much so we have had 5 bikes from them in the past, and would have quite happily recommended them to anyone............
But just lately they don't seem to want to look after their existing customers, they quoted my youngest son £200 to get the SV restricted and wouldn't give a discount.
Phoned Parkinson's and they did it for £187.
So we have changed our allegiance to Parkinson's and Dawn brought her NEW BIKE :grin2 from them.

i had good and bad experiences with John Pease.
I went into Braintree the other week to test ride an MT03 and Paul the manager was falling over himself to help me, i got a text after i'd visited to say thanks for coming in etc and he rang me on the monday to see if i'd made up my mind. he'd got a price for some aftermarket cans and couldnt be nicer.
shame really, i loved the bike but it just didnt have enough poke for all the A12 miles i do. i'm still tempted but not tempted enough :grin2 and it was cheap as chips in terms of bars and clocks and things.
couldnt be more of a contrast to when i dealt with the chelmsford shop and they couldnt be arsed to phone me with a delivery date for the brand new GSXR600 i had ordered. i cancelled that one in the end.
i love Parkys, the better you know them the better the service you get! still not great at ringing you back though, Jim! oi!!! :grin2

H'mm some things don't change then. Went there as a teenager cough cough:grin2 years ago with two mates and they wouldn't give us the time of day. All three of us sold our souls to the HP man and bought brand new bikes that day and in my case Parkies ended up with all my business for the following 20 years including two of the race bikes. With the rediculous amount of money me and my two mates spent on bikes over the following 20 years or so that was alot of business to lose just for judging the book by its cover.

Oh go on, can I have a PM too? I am not JP staff or now't, I have slagged them off here somewhere, due to their indifference to customers.

had abit of an off time with JP myself, i recently purchased a zxr400 from them, bought it, came back to pick it up and road test it ( hadnt firtly as the head bearings were being replaced), came back from road test and its ****ing coolant out, so left it with them for another week, picked it up and its all fine, headgasket had gone, zxrs are prone to headgaskets, i know as ive had zxrs in the past, but they did seem to do everything in their power to help me out, also he took me seriously, and im only 19!

Hi,
I've been reading all the comments and one of the reasons we opened our shop was because of John Pease' attitude - Check us out xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxall parts - all bikes - all helpful - all family run
Steve
.......Is this the same Highfield Motorcycles that sold a young lad a bike with a dodgy gearbox then presented him with a £140 bill for fixing it under warranty, and are currently holding the bike to ransom and won't release it unless the £140 is paid? Warranty is Warranty, and if its agreed its Warranty when it comes in then you cant expect to give a 16 year old a £140 bill, thats a lot of money to a 16 year old.
Its probably best not to come on here spouting about how good you are unless your house is in order, because between us we know a lot of Motorcyclists in Essex.
......and the same Highfield m/c's that is/was a CPI dealer and charged another youngster for warranty work, stating that your labour rate was higher than CPI were prepared to pay, so the customer had to pay the difference.....excellent warranty that is.
.......the same CPI dealer that I came in to look at the new bikes for my Son,........and left quick-smart because I had no confidence that anyone knew what they were talking about?
......and you say you are "family run" .....is the Polish mechanic who hardly speaks a word of English a member of your family?

Haha.. love it, guy comes on here advertising his company and gets shot down in flames...
Treat one motorcyclist badly.. feel the wrath of the rest of us!:clap

Yes Tooey, In short its probably best to let us do the praising of dealers, rather than come here telling us how good you are.
.....This is NOT Essex Free Adds after all is it?
I personally know both those kids, when Highfield posted up I was prepared to let it ride, when a second personally known to me youngster had a bad experience, I couldn't bite my lip any longer.

I went to peases braintree last week, phone ordered a part, and had to pick it up. found them helpful (parts dept was closed that day, but someone sorted my order, as it was prepaid)
I didn,t have anyone come up to me whilst lookin at the pre-loved! bikes, which suited me as i hate being hassled, I will ask if i want help.
Pete alanby used to run Peases in chelmsford, and was always really helpful. i must go try and remember him when I need stuff, as i tend to go to Nukems, even though they annoy me, they seem to have a know it all attitude, backed up by a know nothing knowledge.

Mick, who used to work in the Chelmsford branch, moved to the Braintree one for a while, but now runs the spares counter at South Essex Motorcycles (Daneholes Roundabout, Stanford Road, Grays).
