look for and check:

wheel bearings:- just try to wiggle the wheels side to side if they move side to side then the bearings are screwed

head stock bearings:- put the bike on its stand then pull it over one side so its balencing on the stand and your body (so the front end is off the ground) then turn the handlebars full left then ful right or vise versa check see if steering is stiff or does not move easily if no easy movement then check see if there are any cables fowling the front end if not may need new bearings

check the engine for leaks etc would mean gaskets are blown etc or wholes somewhere!

also have a look at the forks and bounce them up and down a couple of times see if any liquid is left on the forks if so forkseals are blown

check that the frame and engine numbers match

start the bike up and listen for rattling noises if 2 stroke expect some rattle! but if 4 stroke and lots of rattling then something is on its way out ;)

do a HPI check on the bike via MCN or any other places you can to check the viechles history make sure it isnt stolen or a write off etc

prob a few things i missed but that will get you started hope ive been some help ;)

Check all the headlight fixings, look for stickers that look a bit out of place cos they are probably covering damage and check for scuffs on gearshifter and rear brake. my bike is goin up for sale soon if ya lookin for a gsxr
