Right, im finally ready to buy a new bike ;)
I've got my heart set on a 51 plate CBR 600 F, and by the looks of it there;s one in Hyside Motorcycles in Collier Row which im gonna go and loko at tomorrow.

Has anyone got any experience of that place? I got an MOT done there once and they were really nice, but havent bought anything from there before.

Any help appreciated.

Selling it - its up for 2200, will take 2000 from anyone on here if they want it... and you all know how well its been looked after, the MINT condition its in and the fact Mark Duvall has serviced it every year since ive had it.

I work across the road from hyside's - rocket ronnie is a racing legend lol

he used to oblierate the opposition - apparently he was really good but mad as a hatter on a bike - he also smashed himself up soo much that he was told not to race anymore so he gave up racing.........hence he now has lots of VERY powerful super cars, and the ones that are not that powerful are made to be powerful ;)

nice bike dan - i want an older version of the CBR600F i think - might even get one painted up in urban tiger 900blade colours cos if i got a 900 blade iw ould die lol!

Havent got one yet, the guy selling it had to work so i couldnt go down there :(

Still havent called Hyside, although i went in there on Saturday and saw the CBR 600 FS-2 Sport they have in there.. 04 plate, up for 5k. I didnt see the mileage on it and didnt enquire cos everyone looked busy. Doubt theyd give me anything devent in part-ex, so would have to knock them down a bit, buy it and then sell my bike.

The one in the picture i posted (the 51 plate) only has just over 5000 miles on it, but they guy said it hadnt been ridden in a year, just been sitting in the garage. I dont know if thats good or bad, but its apparantly in mint condition and thats up for just under 4k.

Waddya reckon? I still need to ride one to see if they are confortable enough (no more wrist ache for me!) but providing it is, i will end up getting one... just dont know weather to get the FS-1 or the FS-2 - anyone know the differences between the two?

Cheers.

i think its swings and roundabouts matey

garaged for a year is ok - could have pitted bearings and residue in carbs/injection, maybe fuel has gone off

best thing to do woul dbe to look at it, ride it, see if any bearings etc are out, n that it rides ok n engine runs good - check oil level n stuff before starting to make sure he has looked at it himself init...

but garaged is a good ting - look at mine - outside all the time - hence i dont have a bling bike! Specially as someone tried to knick it not so long ago - imagine how long a new bike would last lol!

as for the bike at hysides - not slaggin them off, but they gotta make money on the biks init - be hard to get them down and most places put the prices up to begin with anyways altho i understand that they are good fellas over there anwyays!

True, I suppose a VFR400 riding with a blue and white GSX-r could be anyone.

Havn't seen many in that paint scheme though.

Worth asking though I suppose.

You know that if u get that repsol rep, that u'll never ride it...i'm talkin less than the vfr...

But out of the 2 i'd take the Fi Sport. Just sounds a bit better deal and the faring shape is nicer....and no evil butt ugly standrd black can on the end.....

Dan
16-03-2005, 05:25 PM
i never even noticed that black can... yeah, that'd have to be changed for a nice shiney one.

My only worry at the moment is the pillion seat - on the FW it looks really comfortable, and that bike is a grand cheaper than the sport... however, i am in love with the sport, just got to see if they'll bring it down a tiny bit in price to what it should be. Mind you, it does come with a warranty which i'd be a lot happier with.

Hrm... Well i'm going to see them both tomorrow lunchtime, and go for a spin to see what they are like. If i like the sport better, i'll get the sales guy to take me out on the back after ive ridden it to see how comfortable it is. Quite looking forward to it! My VFR went up on bike trader today tho :( boohoo.

FingerZ!
16-03-2005, 07:38 PM
NOOO!

your VFR is in the trader!!! - cant believe it man!!!

I prefer the look of the repsol coloured bike but thats such a girly attitude i know lol!

i dont think you can go wrong with either but its up to you which is teh better deal - comfort, price, warranty etc

Spider
16-03-2005, 09:36 PM
no way dans been sitting on a dam VFR for ages he needs to gain some rep back and seeing as CBRs have the worst reps out of the 600s the old ones n e ways! he needs to get the sport cause it looks the BOMB! it dont matter if the pillion seat a bit uncomfortable you aint gonna be on it thats for the pillion to deal with ;) go for the red! you know you love it

FingerZ!
16-03-2005, 09:54 PM
i think he wants a comfy [illion seat for his missus who has discovered that she quite likes going on teh back of his bike if only it were a bit more comfy init :)

i have never ridden a vfr, my brother had one and said it was 'a brilliant lil bike' till he smashed it up that was, i dont really like the look of them though, and they are old, i think the cbr 400 looks nicer.

Spider
18-03-2005, 05:31 AM

i got the CBR600F

they have a yellow rossi rep in hyside at the mo im led to believe,

not much i can knock the CBR6 for.
the only thing which might be a problem is they have a tendancy to knacker their cam chain tensioners.

once its knackered, it will give off a rattling noise. doenst damage anything - just annoys the feck out of the rider.
they cost 30 quid to replace, but honda recon that the new cam chain tensioners are top notch and wont rattle.

other than that - i really cant fault the bike, the seat is brilliant, cos you can slide back on it to get down under the screen, or you can come forward on it for a more upright riding position through towns and stuff.

ive used though this winter - commuting every day no matter what the weather. and there is a slight bit of rust on the axl nut and downpipe (thats it, everything else has survived and is still in top condition)
