Hi everyone, just thought i'd let you all know that i passed my test on thursday, finally!

I'm now trying to decide what bike to get next, i am only riding a 125 at the moment so i want something with some power so i'm not sure wether to get a 400 or a 600, if i go for a 400 i want a babyblade cbr gullarm, but if its a 600 i want a r6 but i dont know yet, what do you guys reckon?

Cheers
Kev.

Well apart from the obvious congratulations!!!! :D

The only advice i could give is that if you have experience on bigger bikes then an R6 from the off isnt such a bad thing, a CBR400 is certainly no real come down from one of them in terms of useable power on British tarmac though, it will keep the insurance down for the first year and will certainly give your limits a run for the money ;)

I could be biased in that because i dont know how good a rider you are i could just say go for the R6 (secretly i would be telling you to get a gixxer anyway!), however i have ridden a CBR400 and know people that have passed their test years ago who still ride them, you wouldnt be disappointed with either, but i guarantee you will be in search of more power after a while :D

Congratulations Bikerboy!

I think an R6 may be a bit lively, I was speaking to someone about them yesterday, and they were saying, you have a job keeping the front end on the ground, they just keep poping the front in the air on almost every gearchange, this is a result of a combination of the highly tuned nature of the engine and the short wheelbase and lightweight nature of the bike.

I passed DAS just over a year ago, I have a 125 bhp sports tourer, and I love the power to bits, but, I think it would be a bit off-putting to ride something that popped the front wheel up everytime you hit the power band.

What about the other 600's.....a ZX6R, or a GSXR, or the SV650 is a nice bike, plentifull and cheap, or if you want more power than the SV650, what about the 1000?

Just remember having an R6 or whatever Sports bike, does NOT suddenly make you Valentino Rossi  , most sport tourers or all-rounders, will have all the cornering potential you need for a bit.

if u want a 6 go for a cbr600f...u cant beat it as an all-rounder. Was gonna be my next toy until my trips to romford stopped. Now i think it'll be a gsxr or zx6r as there aren't many cheap R6's about

Well done.

Buy Dans VFR!

Start with a 400 and work your way up. If you start low you can only go up! Start at the top and there is a long way back down.

you say that the front wheel would keep poppin up on a r6 but wouldnt all 600's do that? or is it only the r6.

My mate doesnt have that problem on his to be honest, but then again its all down to how you ride it isnt it :)

I would suggest that if his front end constantly pops up then he is far too aggressive on the throttle and needs to time his gear changes better ;)

Front wheel only pops up if you ride it like that. I didn't even get the front wheel off the floor on the GSXR1000.

Ok the Mille did lift but I had never done a racing start and it has real low donw power! So when I dumped the clutch at 6,000rpm from the lights it did nearly throw me off!
