I have just come from Broomfield Hospital. Paul has had an accident on his bike he is ok but he has broken his right clavicle and injured the vertabrae on his spine. I am just writing this for people who may get worried if they cannot contact him due to him being in the hospital.
I spoke to him about the crash apprently from what he can remember a car pulled out on him and he swerved but hit the car and got sent flying.
Not sure on damage to bike.
So lets hope he gets better soon.
Thanks

I just got off the phone to him, I'm gonna go up and visit tomorrow about midday if anyone wants to join me, just gimme a bell.
I've got the number for the phone at his bedside if anyone wants it.
He was riding through baddow (risky enough as it is!) And a car pulled out of a car parking space, he went straight into the side.
Police have the bike.
Big thanks to Ricey for filling everyone in (I'm the one who mullered your saxo off the lights a couple of weeks back )
His mum phoned me earlier aswell, she seems to be taking it quite well, but she's a worrier as it is, this certainly won't help.
And Mike binned the r1? That bike was my hero!
Poor lad.

I didn't want to say to him 'what if..'
But it's possible, hopefully the insurance company won't look too closely at his bike, considering he should be very little to blame for this accident.
The police do have the bike though, but that's standard practise, they'll call in a garage to pick it up. And they'll charge him some silly amount to keep it, so I'll talk to him tomorrow, and hopefully I'll collect it and stick it in my garage.

Going up to see Paul today, his mum phoned me again a minute ago, she's got the bike back home now, she had to pay ALOT of money to get it home aswell, over £200
Anyone fancy putting his little silver disks of woe back in the carbs?
It's a write off apparently, which I'm not suprised at, I'm guessing the forks and frame are ****ed if his condition is anything to go by.

he hopes to come home middle of next week, so lets hope he does and lets hope the bastard who pulled out on him is found at fault and pays for the damage hes caused

get well soon chap.. bet the car driver doesn’t have to re-sit his driving test or even gets a ticking off.
these people should have to do a carsafe drive which focuses on driver behaviour and teaches them to be observant and tolerant to other more vulnerable road users..
hope u get back on your bike soon..

Good to see Paul home, on his feet and smiling.
.....I saw his bike for sale and considered buying it  ......and then I realised we already had one just like it
In fact Andys damage was a bit worse than that, very similar front end damage, but also, fecked up all the rear end, as it bounced up, and came down on the grab hand/seat fairing, so busted the frame where the grab handle mounts, knackered the seat fairing and the undertray.
I noticed one of Pauls front wheel spokes broke, Andys did too, in the same place.

Well i think i am ok enough to sit at a pc for several hours typing up what happened. Here i go:
From what I can remember on the thursday morning on the way to college I pulled into Dorset Avenue and slowed down, as there was a row of parked cars on my side of the road. (Right out side Great Baddow School which is very busy at that time of the morning) I checked my mirrors then checked to see if anything was coming and then pulled out. I got half way down when all of a sudden I recall the front of a parked car swing out in front of me into the road. (but the car didn't swing out to pull out it swung out like it was going to do a 3 point turn.. of all the places?!?!)I slammed my brakes on and tried to swerve to avoid hitting the car but with no prevail. I hit the car and remember coming off the seat. The next thing I remembered was hitting the floor on my side, my head banging on the floor and then bouncing and hitting the floor again in the same motion.
I remember my back being in excruciating pain and trying to hold onto it with my hand. A man ran over and told me not to get up and not to move. Then a woman came over and told me that she was an off duty ambulance technician and that not to worry the ambulance had been phoned and not to move. And then another guy came over and said he was a NHS nurse. They took my helmet of and then the lady supported my head and the nurse supported my back. Lots of people kept looking and wondering over to see.
Then the ambulance arrived and they put me on to a flat board. The police kept asking me questions and if they could breathalyse me. (I mean come on they wanted to breathalyse me while i was in dying pain strapped to a flat bored!?!??! of all the common sence...) The ambulance people said no and got me into the ambulance and rushed me to A & E. Once at A & E they asked me how much my bike jacket was, as soon as i said £100 they decided not to cut through it so they gently and slowly took off my bike jacket and then cut through my college shirt. They then examined me and sent me for some x-rays. The police then came in and asked me questions and breathalysed me. The doctor told me that I had fractured my collar bone but where unsure about my back and sent me back for another x-ray. Had the second x-ray and then got told I had fractured my T12, for you non-medical people like myself that’s the T number 12 (one of the vertebrae’s in the spinal cord). Had my un-comfy bed wheeled into another area where I had too wait 2/3 hours for the bone man to come and check me out. I was then checked out and anal probed (he said he had to check the bottom of my spinal cord out, but I think he just wanted to finger my bum hole.) Then got told I was going to have to lie flat for a few days and then get fitted with a back support that I would have to wear for 3-4 months.
Then got moved to another floor, floor 2 in the Notley B23 ward I believe, which was my home for the next 4 days. Got treated well and chatted up all the nurses, got treated like a king, 3 hot meals a day and as many drugs as I wanted by the push of the button. Then had my back brace fitted and I could then get up and move around freely. I could also ****, shave and shower (well wash) myself on my own. Lived happily apart from at night when the old biddies played up and attempted to escape and beat up the nurses. Had several visitors and finally came home on the Monday afternoon.
Now just got to take it easy and remember not to sit up or get out of bed without my back support on. And to take things easy, seem to get very tired very easily :(
Right that tired me out typing that out with just my left hand, so im now going up to bed for a quick kip.

Paul,
The CPS won't and can't decide what happens insurance wise, the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) are the ones who decide, based upon evidence supplied by the Police, whether any prosecution will take place, eg "driving without due care and attention", which if the car driver were prosecuted, obviously would not do your insurance claim any harm.
......The Police make me wonder sometimes........so you are on your way to College in the morning and some dumb ass tw@t car driver pulls out on you, and the Police want to breathalyse you.........DUHHHH! whats that all about??

I know that, its just rediculious doing it while im in a hell of alot of pain, and can't really move. I could'nt understand why they couldn't wait an hour n half till i was in hospital and able to do it. they had to come in anyway to interview me.
