So i have my new job, will soon have my new my bike, but for a couple of weeks of my new job, my parents will be away, so i will have no way of getting my bike home if anything bad happens, whether its a breakdown or a spill...

...so what, if any, breakdown companies does anyone use? preferably close to chelmsford/braintree so i dont end up being stranded for hours :)

You'll prob end up stranded for ages no matter what company you use. When my ER5 broke down in Danbury we waited nearly 2 hours. The breakdown service was based in Boreham and they wernt busy. While i was in the lorry/van thing he had another call through of an RS that had broken down not so far away (Wodden Ferris i think), and he said he would get there in an hour and a half, although if he wanted to he could have been there in about 50 mins (that includes him dropping me and my bike off, going back to base, have a drink and get to where the RS had broken down)

Only funny/good thing he did/say was that all companines call RAC - Rent A Clown

I didn't think the wait was too bad to pick up your ER.

I had my haribo to munch.

Meh, Bonnett you've got my mobile number, I'll be your breakdown service for two weeks, I'm already your personal mechanic / 2t oil store. There's plenty of people around to help you out if you end up in the ****.

I happened to get free breakdown cover with my insurance.

Only because we were in a tesco petrol station where there we could buy food and plus we could watch that woman who beached her car onto a traffic island  :? and laugh at them trying to pull it off and instead ripping her bumper off.

Sam didn't you get breakdown cover with your insurance? Most companies offer it for an extra £10-£20 for the year.

You've got to be joking right? I'm with Green Flag and they are appalling.
If you break down you have to be atleast 1mile away from home, and no more than 10miles away from where you want to go otherwise they charge like 50p a mile.

And if you crash or get knocked off they won't pick the bike up, they will only pick it up if you breakdown. The little story i posted above about breaking down in a petrol station it was greenflag that picked me up and wern't to great.
