could any1 give me the standard jet sizes & turns on mixture screws 2 n what size would uses recommend going up by.
it rides ok once it cleans its self out ie out of town n pulls just over 160khm.
1 more thing,do u think it could b a seal seal.what oil do u put in the gear box,im using fully syth 2T n fully syth 4T 10w/40 in box is this ok

Hello dan 2,
I'm afraid i am not sure if you meant TZR or TZRR from u'r title, if you mean TZR i can help a bit!, these are some of the standard specs:
MAIN JET=180
JET NEEDLE=406
NEEDLE CLIP POSITION (from top)=4th groove
AIR SCREW= Turn all the way in then 1.75 turns out
FLOAT LEVEL=20-21mm

Dunno what to reccomend as upgrades because it varies so much from bike 2 bike, just buy some and experiment! ,

As for the oil fully synthetic 2 stroke all the way! and it should be 10w/30SE in box. Unless the oil level in the box is dropping you know that seal is alright, but you could always check the one on the generator side if you are that paranoid it is a crank seal. Can't see it being one of them if it is running that well at higher revs tho but hey who knows? Hope that helps and if u meant TZRR then maybe disregard the above (the specs anyway!) If you need a hand with how to set up the oil pump on it let us know it might need some adjustment, mileage is a bit more use than time on how long your oil is lasting.
Good luck

If you have a TZRR, check out the main site ( http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/italiantzr.htm ) theres loadsa techie stuff on there for them from when i had one myself.

Im no mechanic, but TZR/R's have that quality which kinda holds you at gunpoint, blackmailing you into learning all sorts of stuff about it

All i can add to Mellers response above is the following:

I used 10w40 for my gearbox oil, fully synthetic and if you have changed the exhaust, you really need to think about altering the jets (not just the mixture screw, as this only adjusts the idle jet not the main jet) and also getting a decent air filter.

4 weeks wounds about right for the 2/ oil, depending on your milage, but if you take the cover off the 2/ oil pump cover, you can check the alignment marks. (SEE http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=159 )

Lastly, check the rev counter next time you go for a ride, and make sure its about 8k revs that the engine starts to clear. The powervalve kicks in at about 6k revs (assuming you have the ypvs servo kit), and may have something to do with your problem(s).

Hope this helps.

Dan.
