RiOT Racing is proud to announce that its application to field two wild-card riders at the forthcoming European round of the World Superbike Championship, to be held at Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 5th-7th August 2005, has today been accepted by series organisers the Flammini Group.
The squad will be entering regular MRO Powerbike team rider Mark Talbot (19) alongside MRO MiniTwins hotshot Chris Northover (18). Both riders will take part in the European Superstock 600 support race aboard a couple of R6 Yamaha's.
The entry marks the successful conclusion to several months of negotiations by RiOT Team Owner Jorge Vairinhos, working in conjunction with the ACU. Vairinhos is no stranger to wild card entries at the world-famous Kent circuit, having provided former British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne with his first international exposure as a guest rider at the 1999 meeting.
The WSB paddock party which the team threw in 2001 is still talked about to this day. With the assistance of Yamaha Moto France, RiOT Racing will again be providing the evening entertainment on Saturday night. Top London cover band Jokin' Apart will be retuning to their favourite venue with a guest appearance from reigning World Superbike Champion James Toseland. Don't be too surprised to find a couple of the other top riders joining in with the festivities as well.
The team must now move quickly to ensure that everything is in readiness for when the excitement begins next Friday. More details will be released on this site in the coming days. However, Vairinhos is confident that the team will do itself justice over the course of the weekend. "RiOT is all about giving riders a chance to make their racing dreams come true" he says. "And dreams don't come much bigger than appearing at the biggest World Superbike event on the planet."
