just answer me this, is it ALWAYS BMWs? :x :x :x
I rode home last night and have never known anything like it (in my limited recent experience!)
and then it was the same again this morning, all BMs. All previous shape 3 & 5 series, the new shape seems to leave you alone a bit more.
oh well

hehehehehe
BMW's, White Vans and last but not least, Britains favourite the people mover :D
The last couple of days i have seen plenty of BMW's drift across my lane only to get a swift rev of the engine, they then sit and stare at me in the mirror as if it was all my fault, the worst of it is they all tend to be sat with a mobile pressed to their ear too
I mean, if you can afford a BMW, cant you afford a blue tooth headseat? :D
On a similar topic i did watch the most hilarious thing ever literally as i was going over the top of the Dartford bridge on Monday morning in the rain.
A guy was weaving his way through on his bandit, i had already seen him start to lose his temper after 2 or 3 cars had drifted across him, when lo and behold a white van started to do the same,
aha, your mirror is going to get clouted here i thought to myself, as i sat patiently behind the bandit, and in true fashion that bandit rider didnt just take a swipe at the mirror, oh no that would be far too easy,
he rode alongside it, made sure he had plenty of room and then without any regard for his helmet, he nutted it clean off :D
laugh i nearly shat! :D
and then proceeded to swerve all over the road as the mirror and its casing hit the road and smashed to bits at 30 or so mph, spectacular!!!!! :D

Not always BMW's (wots special about a BMW anyway (M series excluded  ))?
You get used to it after a while though and become immune... :D

Ive got a BMW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always move over
I was a courier for nearly a year in london.........best thing is to sneak past when you can and put your leg out putting a nice scratch down their car with your toe slider ! Then p*ss off quick !
I have to agree that it is more often than not a BMW that drifts across.
Although those big merc 4x4 thingies quite like to do the same as well as cayenne's. Not exactly the most ideal things to have plonk themselves in front of you.
Loving the nutting the wing mirror thing!!!
I'm a pacifist personally, so they just get a blip of the engine and a scowl or a beep or if i can be arsed, a bit of sign language always makes me feel better!

Filtering is one of my favourite biking facilities, as when you find yourself approching a mile long traffic jam, you can whizz to the front!
Car drivers hate this, a small percentage will pull over and let you thru, i always just raise my hand to thank them
BUT 99% of them, either pull further into the middle so you cant get thru, or as your passing ,close the gap, making you slam on the brakes
When i was 19 on a 350LC, the bike was not registered to me, and this happened ,at the time i was wearing moto-x boots, with steel ends
This Big Rover closed up on me, causing me toslam on brakes and nearly hit him,
There was still a small gap for me to get thru, i was stopped next to his car,and i booted his door as hard as poss, leaving a masive dent in it, and squeezed thru the gap and was off!
Never heard a thing,
I DONT ADVISE THIS especially if the bike is registered in your name, or if it isnt and you got it from a shop, they will trace you
The only reason i did it, is cos i had bought the bike private, and not given name and address, he just handed me the log book!
It still happens to me, every day, I am used to it now it does not bother me.
The only time i wonttake chances is when my son is on the back, for obvious reasons

I've only ever taken off one wing mirror, and they sure deserved it.
Nutting one off rocks!
Who needs to smash wing mirrors when you can make the mille growl!

I had a funny one on the A13 yesterday, again its 40mph from Sadlers Farm roundabout to Marsh Farm, nobody on the inside lane and the bloke in front of me on the outside is sticking to 35  I flash my lights and blow my horn at him and he don't move, i go to take him on the inside and he pulls over to block me off so i imediatley swing back and so dose he.
By now i'v had enough so i hang back for a couple of seconds and then ripp past on the line, swerve in front of him, slow down and give him a blatent ****er sign and **** off.
I get about 500 yards into the normal speed limit when he rips paste me at about 90mph, 125 4stroke i aint catching him, but luckily enough he gets stuck at the 5 bells.
Theres no way he's catching me going through Fobbing or stanford so i swerve in front of him, revs the ****** out of the bike and go to spin off all cool like, and like a complete N00b.....................
I hit freaking neutral

Harriebird, I concur with your sentiments, secondhand BMW drivers, have a chip on their shoulder, they all think they have the fastest car on the roads, and noone, BUT NOONE, is gonna come past them under any circumstances
New BMW drivers, drive them for different reasons. They are not so bad.
White van man is in general one of the worst. He has a van, but thinks he is in a BMW

well this morning at the bottom of my street is a one way road....this ****ing women in her car just stopped and put her fing hazard lights on to let her kids get out for school, so i decided to be patient as there was no where else to go, then the bitch decided she wanted to reverse up a one way street, i wouldnt move, coz i couldnt be bothered, and decided to sit on my bike with me arms crossed, as to say you come near me i'll punch ur head off.....next thing i knew she was inches away from my bike, until she stopped, got out her car and started swearing at me, at me, im prob the last person she wanted to pick a fight with this morning( as i was running late for work, and still needed to get petrol) so i got of my bike walked over to her, she started walking backwards got in her car, and said sorry, the bitch said sorry, i was up for smashing her face in, so i just kicked the back of her car, (just to make myself feel that tiny bit better  ) then she drove off............the end

I look for drivers doing this sort of thing.. If you learn to expect it it rarely comes as a surprise so you are ready for it.
I also firmly believe that if you take the modernn approach and "filter" that it's your own lookout if someone pulls in front of you. Unpopular view I know with most bikers now but hey that's me.
I understand that in France and some other countries that the law, as it stands (I believe) still in the UK, is being firmly applied and fines handed out for what is defined as "undertaking".
I would be interested to see a clever lawyer defending a car driver or biker where filtering ended up in an accident as I would like to see if any clarifiaction arises.
I have read the latest highway code that mentions filtering and also the police rider's handbook guidance on the same.
Now I wait for you all to cry "he's not a real biker"

white vans drifting are fun :D especially if they have no back window, because when they drift right to stop you, you throw out the parachute drift behind them, go up their left dragging sliders/glives/boots down the side - mercedes vans are the best ones because the wing mirrors are high so if they've really annoying it's easier to hit them - best example of going left when they go right is the night that RiDE came to the white hart,
we were all riding up past St Johns hospital - Mr. Hairdressers in his SLK moves FAR right to stop a few of us going past (on the bit where it goes to 2 lanes) as he goes left and blocks 2 bikes, the other 15 of us went up his inside :D
cars tend to move inchelmsford, the ones that dont move look at you like you're the devil when you filter, tuesday afternoon me and drew were in chelmsford, a car started braking and moving to the left, no indicators, so as I decided he was just going to stop we slowly started moving to over take the car we thought was stopping... oh, no, he moves right, not a problem, so we brake, im in the wrong afterall, but it wasnt until then he put his indicators on and gave me a dirty look
they;re all d*cks though, so just smash stuff and look intimidating :D

Personally, I havn't had anyone pull in front of me when im on a bike (yet)
However, on many a hot sunny day filtering past almost stationary traffic from southend to benfleet,
i have been hearing some very colourful language directed at me. It always ****es me off at the time, but im not the one stuck in a cage in a traffic jam on a hot sunny day
