I'm on flexitime at work and have to fill in a timesheet and they can check the weblog against your timesheet so if you were on the internet when you said you were working (you're ok before/after work and lunchtime) then you can expect a tap on the shoulder

it's all rubbish tho because the amount of people at my work that sit about on personal phonecalls or doing mince pie taste tests just takes the p*ss and they don't get b*llocked for that. grrrrrr

We have numerous pieces of hardware that log MSN chats and internet activity, tis all logged against your login ID and PC etc. Only used if you're breaking company rules i.e. surfing porn etc.

Otherwise the web is free for all :D

Its not so much the server logs and the checking of them that you need to be worried about, yeah it can land you straight in the poo if your company has a policy on internet use that you are abusing, however most are pretty good about it as long as your work is getting done.

The ones to watch are the system administrators that install and use stuff like WinVNC to manage and maintain the networks, with software like that they are able to log on from their PC and just see your complete desktop, so anything you are working on or looking at, they can see too just by logging onto their control panel.

Quite enlightening, not many sys admins are going to bother searching through a server log to catch you when they can just watch what you are looking at from their own monitor :D
