I spent an hour or so today ringin round for bike insurance quotes, as mine runs out at the end of the month.
Called the usual, Westhill (my current ppl), bennetts etc. but i came across a company called Direct Choice on the net.

Last year, I had my Italian TZRR, and that was about 380 quid TPFT, on my CBT licence.... I then changed it mid term to cover da VFR when I passed bike test, and they bumped it up a little.
This year, they wanted 413 to renew for the VFR - which i didnt think was too bad. Got that down to 377 with one company, then 325 with another.. all with excesses of 250 or 350 quid.

This Direct choice company quoted me £241.36 TPFT for the year, which also covers me to ride any other bike. The excess is 250 quid, but doubles if I get the bike knicked outside of the garage which is fury muff.

Rahh! Lock up your bikes... im coming round to ride em all!!

oh, some good numbers (in order of my cheapest quote today):

Direct Choice - 08451 214 214
Click Quote - 0870 742 0797
Bennetts - 0800 107 7990
Westhill - 0870 794 7940

Happy haggling ;)

Thanks
I am sure they will come in usefull.

When i was 16 it was £160 for ny TS50ER

This year with 15% no claims they want at least £500 for my TZR TPO!!

So i have put the bike in my dads name insured him on it for £60 and i am riding it off my car insurance that allows me to drive anyone elses car or ride anyone elses bike! rahaha!!

Best insurance quote i found when i got my TZR was Carol Nash, £330 tpft with breakdown cover thrown in, not a bad deal ;)

Westhill was tyhe best for me on the TZRR - again, with breakdown cover (not that you need it!! LOL)

Numbers above.

Right... time to finalise what im doing with my insurance this year...

Phoned Westhill, and told them to sort their quotes out - ive been quoted 241.36 elsewhere, instead of their 460 quid! so they said ok, we'll do it for 225  and im insured to ride other bikes. Excess is 200 quid which is better than last year un all.

Now thats better!

Just out of curiosity, I asked them how much it would be to insure a 1999 GSXR, cos i found a really nice one today for just over 3 grand - bout 450 tpft - id probably wanna get that fully comp to be honest, which will be well over 600 quid... so thats outs tha window for another year or so

my insurence is something like £600 on a provissional liscence (ignore spelling) so when i pass my test will it go down and is there any other type of course thing i can do to make my insurence go down more?

Dan

After you have a years no claims, it'll go down quite a lot. For provisional licence holders, you really need to use an insurance broker thats underwritten by Highway.. as they provide the cheapest insurance. After that, equity redstar seem to be the cheapest if you have under a 600 with a year or so no claims.

when i got my renewal on my 50 i was a year older and had a years no claims and it had gone up!! So i fcukd them off and went somewhere else!

I still have my 1 years so am gonna have to get insured on my TZr befoe November.

Riding it now induring my dad for £60 and riding it on my car insurance!

Dan
10-08-2003, 06:15 PM
no - its when ur convicted. Points stay on ur licence for 5 years... so if theyre off your licence, it was more than 5 years ago... so the insurance company dont need to know about em.
