Im bidding on some Harris rearsets on ebay. V Good condition just a bit of worn paint as expected. How much are they worth and what do you reckon as a top end buying price ??? Got 1 day 12 hours left !

I've got Harris Rearsets on my Duc, they used to be around the £350 mark. Probably more like £250-300 now I guess. So £150 or less is a good buy. You can always get them re-anodized and they will be like new.

Dont bid anymore on it ;)

With Ebay its better to wait until 5 minutes before and then sit and watch it with the bid ready, then bang your max that you are prepared to bid with 30 seconds to go ;)

At least then you have a chance for getting under what the max you want to bid is, but if it goes up to the max then you still get it.

Also if you get outbid it then pushes the price up for the other sod to pay, if they decide to drop out because its pushed them over then you get second offer ;)

If you really want to go for them, might be worth thinking about using Ebay sniper software, 3 second bid from end of auction will cost ya £2. I hate them but it's anyone's game on Ebay!

The only problem with that is that loads of people use it and it can still be beaten by others using it :D

I rely on my broadband connection and if all else fails keep my fingers crossed :D

i dont like the fact they want you to hand over your ebay user name and password...who knows what they could get up to....ive heard too many stories of peoples ebay accounts being hacked and used to sell stolen goods...happened to my brother!

I bought Andy a set of unbranded rearsets for his VFR from ebay, they do them for lots of bikes. Buy it now at £90, not got 'em yet but they look OK

Rearsets (decent ones) allow you to adjust the controls to your liking, so you're able to fine tune the setup on your bike, as well as making it more comfortable.

They look trick too! :D

Pyramid also do the number plate bracket for that undertray for a tenner ;)

and for a little bit more you could sling on the micro indicators too ;)

10 minute job for a lot of them depending on the rear brake fittings ;)

Is it just me or........are they not adjustable !!!!:skip

Ducky
06-01-2006, 08:52 PM
Not all rearsets are adjustable, some just reposition the foot pegs different from standard and that's it, no adjustments.

The Guvnor

I realise that but if they dont adjust I dont understand the point in having them ! Might aswell just save your money and leave it standard ! ..........:clap

Ducky

Well, if you just wanted a higher peg level you could buy non-adjustable aftermarket ones for say £150, rather than spend £350 on a fully adjustable set.

On my VFR400 I have the standard rearsets with a jackup plate kit, don't need any more as I'm happy with the position, and the jackup plates give me the extra ground clearance. :)

No the ones I have bought Andy are not adjustable, they are 25mm higher and 25mm further back than standard.

Andy has broken his r/h peg hanger, and a new pattern (not original Honda) Hanger is £40 from ebay, they have both been broken and poorly welded before (before he got it) and the rearsets were £40, so sounds like a good deal.

As for the question over what use are they, they give more ground clearance by moving the pegs, up, and back, hence the name rearset -----set back.

As for how easy are they to fit, they have no provision for a rear brakelight switch as they are intended for track use. In Andys case this is not an issue as he already had race pegs on the std hangers and had a pressure switch fitted for the rear brake light.

Biggest issue I can see from the pic is there is not much in the way of a heel guard, but I think we may be able to cut that off the broken original and fix it on.

Lateshift

you screw heel guards onto them normally ;)

Ducky

That bracket on the left hand side one is for the brake cylinder, the right one already has a heel plate on it. ;)

Guess you could screw a heel plate on top of the brake cylinder. :)

Lateshift

put it on the same holes, so it covers the brake unit like they do on a lot of other sets ;)
