Picked up a nail on the rear tyre, its a 160/60 Dunlop Sportmax, nail has gone into the tread, Slime hasnt worked on it and i really need it repaired.

Anyone know anywhere that will plug the tyre?

All help appreciated.

Just nip into your local bike shop and buy a puncture repair kit, used them many a time to repair tyres.

hmm puncture repair kit? Wouldnt that involve taking the tyre off? Only ever fixed a puncture on a push bike!

nah tyre stays on......you get these wierd little plug thingys that expand in the tyre......not supposed to go over abot 50mph or keep riding on it for a peroid of time..its only supposed to be enough to get you to a garage but a few of my mates have used them and not got the tyre changed for ages and theyre okay!

yeah my last pilot sport on the Ninja had one fitted, not that i knew about it, and it definitely worked over 50 :D

although my hoop was going considerably faster than that when i had the tyre changed and realised i had been riding around with one fitted

50p - dustbin lid - 50p - dustbin lid :D

Well being a ZZR400 it isnt really gonna be that fast anyway :)

Taking it down to the local tyre place tommorrow as the place down the A12 is a little too far. Although the place down the A12 did say they could probably do it!

The thing with asking for a puncture repair kit is that i dont know what kit you guys bought, so i could buy one that isnt as permenant. Plus a plug on a loose wheel cant cost that much can it?

About the only repair I'd feel happy giving it much welly on is a proper plug; not sure I could trust one of those roadside repair jobs for too many miles.
I got one done at Universal Tyres in Chelmsford the last time I got a puncture. Cost me about a tenner as I recall; not cheap, but that tyre had done 400 miles from brand new, and it lasted all the way to the wear markers, so it was worth it in my book.
Some places are a bit funny about plugging them, though - my local (Maldon) place won't plug anything but Michelins.
