Can my bike pass it's MOT with one headlight missing?

At the pub the other night I heard The Guvnor mention you don't NEED indicators, just wondering if it could pass if one of the headlights was totally removed?

I believe at one point that you didn't need lights, but you can't ride at night. not sure if thats still the case now tho.

Should be cosha, it's fixed, well "Fixed", It should be ready for MOT by the end of the weekend, the only thing I think it may (probably will) fail on is the headlamp beam postitioning, because, it's not very good, but i'll just plead ignorance and ask how to adjust it then and there and see if they put it through :D

It should be the same as the actual height of the headlight above the ground (dipped beam will then be right too). Then all you've got to do is make sure the headlamp points slightly to the left and you should pass that bit of the MOT.

:rockon thankyou very much, so from 20foot away when the bike is level, the height of the High Beam should be the same as the height of headlamp from the floor?

I believe so, the bike should be off the centre or side stand and with no one sitting on it ideally. That's how I do mine (had to remove my headlights completely a few times) and my MOT bloke puts it on the beam setting thingy and it's never caused comment, he just nods and carries on with the rest of the test. Not failed an MOT yet and you should see the filthy state of my bike.
