I have a problem with the bike (xv125 virago), warmed it up this morning and all was fine, about 2 miles on i stopped at a set of traffic lights and when i went to pull away the bike said "glug glug glug glug <bang>" drove ****y for about 100 yards and then was fine!

And tonight its done it again, it goes to stall, backfires and then drives ok, as long as i don't rip the throttle back ;)

I was gonna get it serviced next week and had sorta decided to sell it for a teezer, do you think SHE knows and is spitting her dummy out?

And before anybdy ask's, yes theres decent oil in it, topped it up a couple of weeks ago.

If i had to hazard a guess i would say its to much air getting into the system, but iv not touched it!

Please say its something simple like a plug :laugh2

Any idea's peeps? :( :(

i'd be tempted to say the same or carb icying... although you wouldn't get a backfire...? so i'd say its something in the ignition system causing the problem

my best guess is the bike is missing on one cylinder and fuel is therefore not getting burnt in that cylinder and is making is way to the exhaust and causing the backfire

again i'm not a professional and know nothing about your bike

Well i took to the chop shop today, riding home this morning it decided to start launching flames out the end of the exhaust.

Apparently its quite common and not to serious :rockon

Thanks for your help though guys :grin2

carb icing is very commen at this time of year.....

Small needle gets iced up, makes it run like a bag of spanners and it wont rev properly.

Perhaps some silkolene FST pro would do the trick?

Or the carb looking like a spiders web (cracks) and wrong plugs in it from last service.

Carb gummed up and one on order, plus next service will be cheap as a few of it was done.

Cheers for ya help :grin2
