Definately aint good news, my restriction docs say, "Carbs" basically

i dont know but theres somthing wrong in a big way it seems to be sucking in far to much air,, so it could be leaking in the vacums

that aswell but that means there is another restricter somewhere

that won't make any difference if theres another restriction in there, the carbs are on and everything is ok, but if the other restriction is stopping air, or fuel or something it'll run ****

From what i can find (and there is very little on it) not only can it have restrictor plates put on the carbs but it can also be jetted differently to restrict the fuel aswell ;)

It may be that the kit comes with spacers and jets ;)

With the jet kit it seems to give the same symptoms as your has

Slower acceleration that builds to around 100mph and then wont go any further, even though the tacho is still only around 10krpm

Its a common tecnique to change the jetting to lower the HP aswell as for upping it, so my money is on your bike being set with an extremely aggressive jetting to keep the power down to 33bhp

But the spacers are then used to restrict the air, again porbably to save having to retune the bike when they fitted the jets ;)

ooooooo, i was gonna say that it could be a restricter on the carb sliders... has been known

I think Lateshift is on the right lines. In some countries many needles fitted have only one setting which is at the mid-point to stop you from fiddling and de-restricting. I was told that you can bypass this using small washers as shims if thats the case. Don't know how but worth investigating.

i hope you all wrong and its just air getting in the carbs

So does everyone but the carbs are on properly now, it's gotta be another restriction, infact, is it another restriction if it says that on her documents

i reckon its the jetiting thing cos the loss of power is pretty much linear and its not coughing and spluttering at all

Washer welded in the header pipe, restrictor in the airbox lid?

Juvenilerider

I think basically, you need to take it to someone who KNOWS whats restricting it

lateshift for president................that makes total sense. well im taking it to a guy that drew recommended, its going into his shop tommoro morning to get the carbs balanced, and he should no a bit about the restriction kit i hope.

chances are it will just need a standard set of jets putting back in.

I did manage to find a link where someone confirmed that theirs had been restricted in this way, but it was only a quick sentence about it, apparently he got it rejetted and it was fine then.

I can't see it costing much, apart from the price of the jets (which are peanuts), the hour or so labour to fit it, in which case he would be balancing the carbs then anyway ;)

so what ill do is ill tell him what u just said and see what he comes up with then i might as well just wait and get the things what u just said and get it rejjetted.........ye i no i just made total sence lol

FasterThanU

well id find out the price of a set of standard jets and if it is really cheap (as it should be) then by em and ask keelan to fit them if nessesseccesseccessary

becky
03-02-2006, 09:35 AM
ye ok ive just asked, drew to ring keelen and tell him i wont be able to make it tommoro. but il go down to the bike shop in witham and ask him to explain to me what they are, and whilst im there i think i should get him to actually sign the restriction certificate lol.....then il no exactly what needs to be done.

so if i need these jetting things need to be changed, does that mean, they would have put them in when it was restricted, so maybe the bike shop will have the old ones still....or am i totallty off track

EverSoSlightlyFasterThanU

it got everything to do with it the fact that beckys bike is ment to be 33bhp and his ped will go 33mph

Gazdaman

Doesn't really help but on my XJ certificate it said the same thing as yours and that was just washers in the carbs.

Seems strange to alter the jetting, could well be though.

soooo im not having much luck, last night i herd some kind of rattliing noise in the engine, i though it was going to be something serious so me and shane rushed about this morning putting the restricters back.....then took it down to the shop and i need a new cam chain tensioner. so wont have it back until thursday, that just sucks.

im not a happy bunny

Just be glad you spotted the problem, you dont want the bill you'd get for cam chain failure!
