How to get a key cut without having a full key to start with?? :(

The Mille at some point must have had a different lock put on the ignition as the ignition key doesnt seem to want to open the petrol cap or the seat lock, and so i have always had to use two different keys.

long story short and all that, the key that i open the tank and the seat with snapped inside the petrol cap today, it was too far down and jammed solid and wouldnt come out no matter what so i have had to drill what was left of the key out as best i could, i can get into the petrol cap now using the remains of the key (so it still locks to a fashion) but it wont get anywhere near opening the seat unit :( :(

What i need is someway of getting a key cut to open the seat unit without actually having a full key to start with.

Any ideas?????

I had to do this type of thing twice over the years.

1st I was able to quote the numbers from around the lock and gave the dealer my chassis number and they produced keys.

2nd time there were no numbers. Chassis number and producing the log book to the dealer got me a full set of keys in a week.

By the sound of things you may well have non-standard barrels so you could try http://www.apriliabikes.co.uk/contact.html Bikersworld.

Hope this helps.

If you can get the barrel out, a locksmith can change the keys in it to match whatever you want. :)

Any ideas?????I had a key made from an ignition barrel (lost my only key so had no choice at the time) in Basildon. They can make a key from any lock although it costs a bit more than just having a key copied.

All I can remember is they were in an industrial estate and the road was called Orion Way. Try a google on "Orion way+basildon+locksmith"
