Mostly local radio when I'm in the garage so it's whatever they play.

If I have a long job then I open the rear door of the cage and throw cds on.

Mostly 70's/80's stuff. Loads of new romantic/electric stuff and quite a lot of heavy metal - Budgie/Led Zep. Depends on the mood I'm in.

Wife is a Motown/Northern Soul freak. She puts that on, I find a job to do in the garage.:laughboun

I listen to all sorts with the kids. 4 of 'em, all teeenagers and dad knows their music. How sad is that. We play games finding the original tracks amongst my collection that the "new" songs have ripped off.

Metallica, AC-DC at full blast (neighbours love me) when smashing old wheel bearings out or tyre changing, something slower and more calming on the radio when doing something delicate like wiring repairs or tappets.

i think i'd listen to a bit of Tupac, Snopp Dogg, Dr Dre, 213, or something like that. depends on the mood

Radio 5 live if there's a match on. radio 1 if it's during the week or saturday or sunday morning.

no cd player in the garage yet, but i am loving the gorillaz album in the car at the moment, and the basement jaxx singles collection, and madonna and amy winehouse and the kaiser chiefs.

the perfect garage music is The Doors though. No mistake.

Suppose you're right, he has talent - compared to me trying to rap. But he does my head in with his stupid mono-tone, you'za window licker, crap lyrics and rapping about nothing but his new found wealth and bling - that he wont have in 5 years because no one will remember him.

Given some of his songs are catchy, but compared to actual musicians, he's talentless.

since when is rap music though??

it sounds more like some p****d off American yacking constantly to me, hardly what i call music :D

i have listened to more entertaining white noise when the TV finishes (or at least used to) at least the white noise is bearable ;)

But each to their own, i just find it sad how many people in the UK catch on to that particular cack and end up yapping like they are some Black American rapper, when in actual fact they are White UK people that sound more like London underground announcers (no offence to anyone working for the Great Rail Track :D )

What the UK needs is some decent music again to hopefully try and drag the youth of today back to being British ;)

Haha. My thoughts exactly. Rapping just seems to be people talking over a vauge tune in the background. Something I do everyday!

And it seem's to of bred Chav's, and annoying people in hoodies thinking they are black, American and "Da Man". For goodness sake boy, you were born in Oxford!! Your name is Christopher!!

I also hate the way rap and such glorifies rape, drug taking, using firearms and weapons in general, disrespecting the police and treating women like objects.
It drives me mad! It makes every teenager (and some older people that should know better) think they are " gangsta's ". It's going to end up with something very bad one day.

I don't think rap take a huge amount of talent compared to the likes of Metallica, Iron Maiden et al who PLAY INSRUMENTS brilliantly, can SING A TUNE, and have lyrics that mean something, or are some good.

On the note of British bands, there are a good few coming through, like Hard Fi, and Artic Monkies, amoungst others.

Well, that's my soapbox moment over.

hmmm all the rap h8rz seem to be above the age of 25 i wonder y n e ways i started this thread in hopes of learning what yall listen to! instead its a big ****ing argument bout rap! if ya dnt like it dnt ****ing talk about it wot the **** is the point in arguin! and rap doesnt glorify any of those things u mentioned each song is like the artist version of events he has lived thro or experianced like music is the expression of the artist that writes it and sings it! the songs are normally representing somehting that has happend in there life or that has affected em! its not rap that is the problem! rappers are just telling like it is ! or wot they have seen if you have ever been to places like south central etc and spend a week there in there lives you would probably understand why they "rap" they rap there experiances in the hope it gets them out of the hell they are in! so how bout shutting ur mouths if u dnt like something take it as the persons likes etc everyone is entitled to their opinion but voiceing it to start an argument is just wrong! i cnt belive im saying this of all people BUT GROW THE **** UP ALL OF YA¬

Not sure anyone was arguing.

Everyone was expressing their opinions. And just for the record, Im 18 and Im pretty sure Leo is under 25.

And I don't hate rap, I just dislike 50Cent with a passion, he's crap <---- my opinion.

And where is South Central?

AND - the songs normally represent what happens in their life - So, In Da Club, P.I.M.P, Window Shopper, Candy Shop, 21 Questions are all terrible events that have happened to Curtis during his life?

It's all about posing - which is fair enough, theyve made it big and are famous end of - people like it, it sells.

And you shouldn't care what peoples opinions are if you like it.

Spider me old mate, i dont think anyone is arguing, if i was i would be telling you that you are talking ****e and that 50 pence is to music what Freddie Kruger is to Kindergarten teaching ;)

If i dont think its music it aint music (to me) what you listen to is frankly up to you, there is enough people on here telling you that they dont like 50 cents and pretty much saying they do like him, lets leave it at that, but i can guarantee that if someone on here had popped up admitting to liking Englebert Humperdink or god forbid David Hasselhoff then a few of you would have been the first to slate them ;)

If people had to pay Dan for the bandwidth that gets wasted on drivel around here at times then there wouldnt be any debate at all so at least let people have their say eh, and if we are to grow up then take a step back and allow others to give the same advice when its sent because someone gets the arse about an opinion.

A Rant? definitely not, its a warm cup of love simply to heal the rift that has apparently appeared over a Black Rapper that should be locked up for inciting violence and people saying he can sing, he cant, he talks a good song (thats a pun that).

Now back to my pipe, slippers and warm cup of shut the f*ck up ;) :D

i have nothing against rap music at all (but i prefer the older hip hop style of the lovely grand master flash, now THAT was rap)

but I hate how it's taking over younger kids' lives. people are so materialistic and if you don't have parents who teach you to work hard for stuff you want, and the only music you listen to tells you it's ok to shoot people coz that;s what happened to me and look how much moeny and how many b*tches i got now etc, then are you really going to become a well-adjusted member of society?

i don;t know what poitn i'm trying to make really, but kids look up to people that make music and try to be like them, it's just how it is, and i hate SOME rappers for glorifying stuff that doesn;t deserve glorifying....

I think they should ban all gangster/contoversial and non pc rap!

So that leaves us with Will smith, criss cross and lil bow wow :shooter

I actually prefer old gangster rap, at least it has feeling rather than the same first albums of "my life is sh1t" and the same second albums of "i'm rich, look at my bling, woman are b1tch's and i have loads of hoes" (must do a lot of gardening)
