... insurance companies!
How can it cost me less to get insured on an '04 'Blade worth £5000 than it does for an '02 SP2 worth £5000??
And not less by a few pence, it's nearly a £1000 cheaper on the 'Blade, it's still stupid money but, what's going on???

Blade is seen as a run of the mill sportsbike, the SP2 is viewed as 1000cc superbike/race replica
strange but true ;)

but that goes to show that its not just down to that, although they would have you believe its all to do with "nickability" ;)
My ZX9R has a shed load more horse power than the Mille but a smaller engine and costs more to insure, even though the Mille is essentially a track replica and costs more to repair ;)
And when i have looked through insurance quotes i have seen some right weird ones, a while ago i could get insured on a GSXR750 but with a few companies they were quoting more than an SP1, yet an SP2 was quoted less on the same sites :D :D :D
How they worked that one out i never know

I went to insure my bike with chalkwell insurance a couple of years back, but they would only insure me fire and theft if it was kept off the road at night, wnkers!

Only in my case :D
I think it's more the Underwritters than the insurance companies but it still doesn't make sense.
