Im not advising you to do anything ILLEGAL..;)

A FRIEND downloaded Mcafee Anti-spyware module using a big unnamed peer2peer (p2p) program, it all went through and he has now run it...
he did get it sent through an email by a member of a biking site, but gay hotmail decided it was risky (yet Microsoft products aren't) and blocked it...i think it should be your own risk personally....

anyway after using the p2p program that of course naturally brings in spyware, he runs the software and finds that he has two spyware bits, removes them, and then runs his free complete Adaware SE Pro, which a friend sent him, he finds NO* spyware with it, so mcafee obviously does its job.

Moral of Story: Don't use p2p programs and get software illegally! ;)

*Except the 'MRU list' items which i have no idea what they are but they are 'Negligable objects' and not critical to your computer.

I would never do the above and i have the antispyware module, but i bought it legally ;) (honest)

Anyway, just thought i'd let you know how it went.

I believe faceslider was having doubts about p2p programs...

Sorry for the code, i heard that this site is listed as being checked our great police force...WE AREN'T DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL...*millions run to change their exhausts*

Err there are plenty of p2p programs out there that have been "hacked" to get rid of spyware, the only ones that tend to carry it are the big name ones like Kazaa, Morpheus, Bearshare, Limewire etc etc etc.

You get what you pay for (or dont as the case may be ;) ) but a lot of the spyware is confused with malware which tends to get on the PC by needing an installer but not letting you know about it, spyware tends to generally be harmless and its easy enough to stop it without having to pay for a program anyway ;)
