Well... haven't rode my bike in months coz of this. :(

After about 15 minutes of riding (or 15 seconds if the weather was hot) the bike would meet a rather large flat spot at 5-6k revs impossible to get past without giving it a ton of clutch.

The bike sounded very lean and was not very nice sounding. Idling, it would rev ok... still sounding lean but no flat spot.

Talked to my neighbour who reckoned it was the oil seal, and gear oil was getting into the crank case. Well, I took the bike to the garage, he changed the oil seal... brought it back and nothing is any different.

So.....

I took it upon myself to open her up and mess with the carb. Took the carb out, gave it a spray with some carb cleaner, and put it back. Started ok.... gave it a chunk of revs and it sounds lovely, not lean anymore. But then the bitch is wanting to die. I give it some more revs and finally she dies. I notice black **** dripping out of the exhaust.

So then I take the carb out again today and adjust the mixure... 2 3/4 turns out. It looked like it was 3-3 1/2 out.

Anyway, tried to start it... wouldn't start at all. I have to bump it coz the battery is totally flat, and the back wheel keeps locking up.

So that's my dilema... can ANYONE help me?

Thanks,
Rod

Erm the mixture screw ur reffering to is the Idle mixture not the mixture and it is supposed to be 3 1/4 - 1/2 turns out the main jets take over from the idle jets at about 3k rpm
Ur problem is very hard to tell without more detial or an examination of the bike which obviously is impossible to do but

it sounds to me like ur rings have gone or ur big end bearings are shot if the back wheels locking up its a sure sign i think u need to remove the cyclinder barrel and have alook

Is it constantly locked up???
