View Full Version : Part Worns
I am going to have a few sets of part warms this year. Anyone after a set of sticky tyres for your track days or for the summer? I am only going to use them for a weekend and then sell and get new. This way my part warns are still in sweet condition and I can have full confidence on new tyres every meeting. Last time on the CBR I did about half a season on 1 set and they were still good enough for road or track day use. they are costing me 200 notes a set but I will be trying to sell them for 80. Going to be using the New Bridgstones 020 or something. They are suposed to be the dogs and the championship winners from 05 were all using them.
Catch you later,
Mark.

Totally agree with Tark here... My Brother-in-law sells me his track tryres, and ya can't go wrong.. Had all sorts off him, (super corsas etc....). Got a set of metz on mine at the mo. Each set i have off him costs me a one'er. (and he fits and does the balancin).. Ya can't go wrong. Beats payin 200 plus from a shop anyday..:D .
J.
If I get a steady buyer I will be willing to change the make I use to suit them. Ie I have no problems riding on Rensports, Supercorsas, Ractec, etc etc. LOL.

I'm going to need some tyres before too long, and I'd be up for a set of your cast-offs Tark.
Whilst on the subject of tyres, and I know you race boys are into your tyres. Do you have any feedback for us on the remould Z rated tyres I've seen on ebay at £99 a set? or the new dual compound sports tyres, but I can't remember who makes them, but I think it was Becky was talking about them?
I know dual coumpound is not new the Bridgestone BT020's have used them for years. But its the first sports tyre I've seen use dual ompound.

supercorsa and rensports for me. though you probably going to be using SC1's and they dont last long on the road
SC2 on the rear. SC1 on the front. And the front still lasts longer than the rear. And I have been using the Supercorsa Pro.

ill have a set off you thats a nice set up even for the road
I have a set now from last weekend. Its the only set of SC I have.
I started using Bridgestone 002 on the sunday just to see what they were like. If I get a few people ordering a set I will buy the SC again at each race meeting.

I use Racetec K2's on my daily work transport, be amazed how long they do last for such a soft tyre, just need to be easy on the throttle. :)
Racetec are made by Metzler right? I think they are the same as the Super Corsa as pirelli own them.

thats correct as far as i know, the tread pattern is extremely similar so i imagine there must be some tiny difference due to trading standards etc but that would probably be it :)

and for those buying said tyres... you'd have the added bouns of knowing that i've touched them in fitting the wheels to the bike... Now that's gotta be worth a tenner of anyone's money! :D:D
Oh Dear. I am sure that WONT help Jamie. Thanks.
What about the fact that I was the 5th Fastest 600 round Cadwell on them and was the top Honda in the class on my first time on a 5 year old bike. Does that show they are good tyres? LOL.
First set of Supercorsa have gone to Spider.
Bridgestone 002 have been pre ordered by Stu 600 for after my Croft meeting.
If anyone else wants an order then let me know what tyres you want and I will race on them next time if I can get them at the meeting. Racetecs, Supercorsa or 002.

Was gonna do the R6 cup but didn't get the money in time so I have set up my own team. Going club racing with Derby Phoenix and New Era this year.
Next set of tyres available after Monday 17th April are Metzler Racetecs.
I have now rode the Pirellis, Bridgestones and Metzlers in the space of two weekends and I can honestly say they are all the fooking same lol. I cant tell the difference. LOL.

What you doing on here???
I got a bloody stalker..
I get my supercorsa pro's and metz from this man /\ :clap
I've been running a an sc1 front since last summer and its hardly worn, even after 2 brands eve sessions..
Also I would like to mention that as I am doing short circuit club racing I am only doing 7-8 laps a race so when I say I have done 2 or 3 races they still have less than 20 laps or just over on them.

tyre sizes are 180 rear and 120 front
i think you should start putting a 160 on the rear, then i can buy some off you. ;) :laughboun
I have some from the Steelie. I used to run a 160 on that and 120 on the front. I started to run 180 on the steelie rim so I could sell them easier. You want a 160 rear and 120 front on the Super Corsas??

funky, how much do you want for them.. i might have to wait till the army payes me all what they missed last time, but ill def have them.
they wont go manky or gay if i leave them in my garage for a few months before fitting will they? ive got 010's on there at the mo that have done only about 3 miles or something stupidly low like that (maybe a few hundred more) so i dont want to take them off yet.
I wouldn't think they would go manky. I have got a set on my SRX and thats been sat in the Yard for about 2 years. lol.

cool. sold then. will be quite handy for later in the year if i do that trackday which i want to do. :)
oh yeah, and are these £80 plus p&p like the ohers?
Cos they are left overs and not in as much demand you can have them for £80 including postage (about £23 !!!!!!!!!!! With Amtrak!) Must find another place to send them! Royal mail wern't interested when I took a set down last year.

parcel force maybe...
if you tape them together and send them as 1 item you most places will chage £12 + vat or something like that..
thats what I did. Taped together with a A4 bit of paper taped on with address. Weigh about 10KG and cost me £23!! And that was for over night delivery that took 2 days!!

you got ripped off Tark, Jetski just sent a pair of bare ZXR400 wheels to be sprayed up in Great Yarmouth today, they weighed in at 12Kg and it cost £13 for next day delivery, but it could have been done for a tenner if it was 2 or 3 day delivery ;)

on the subject of tyres I believe I'm on Bridgestone 020's but they take ages to get warm and don't fill me with confidence, don't know the term but it feels like drifting around corners, not sideways like a car but almost like tyre roll (whixh it isn't).
Would I be better off with 014's, i use the bike to commute and all year round, hear the 020's are better all rounders and 014's are softer and better in the summer.
THis stuff confuses me so sorry if I've got the complete wrong end of the stick.

Michelin 2ct's;) seem pretty good in the cold so far...they do cool down quickly though...but heat up fairly quickly if you work em a bit
014's dont last 5 mins only got 600 miles out my last rear when i was on them(They are ****e in the wet as well!)...Michelin pilot sports are supposed to be pretty good for wear & commuting....

Hmmm, I haven't been enjoying the experience of the 014's, haven't been out on them that much, but I much prefer the Michelins. Suppose i'll just have to grin and bear them!

After running the 014's & now switching to 2ct's i certainly wont be going back to Bridgestone....The 2ct's totally transform the bike & handle so well in the corners....get some fitted!

The tyres are brand new and having just bought the bike my finances aren't upto the job of purchasing some new tyres unfortunately, otherwise i'd be straight back to the 2ct's.

****e Jon...............only 600 miles (surly thats a typo)
I've got 014 fitted to my K4 and I've have found them great, even in the wet.
Last year in France when it persistently poured down, once I'd got used to the wet (I try not to ride in the wet anymore its an age thing) I started to get quicker and quicker and started to have confidence in them.
My middle and youngest son's have 020's fitted to their SV's and have had no problems with the tyres, my youngest son came home from work the other night and wanted ME (Where does it say in the manual get your dad to check them) to check his tyre pressures and I said to him "how warm are they, you don't check pressure's when the tyres are warm".........they were quite hot as well.
Some of my mates use Pirelli's Diablo's and swear by them, which I might try next time I need to change both front and back, but I think that when you find a tyre that suits both yourself and bike then you tend to stick with them.
I've also heard some good and bad reports about the 2ct's, My oldest son (Whippet) couldn't wait to replace them, he had no confidence in them at all....................
Get out on the bike, when the roads get a bit drier, and see what you think then, Suzuki stick Bridgestones on their GSXR's for a reason, could be because of a good deal they have with Bridgestone, I don't no, but they must be good, they wouldn't fit any old crap, Would they...........

ik used to use the 010's! lol i LOVED them! but then they were discontinued so i moved onto the 014's.....supposedly the newer better version of the 010's?! pfftt.....i still didnt think they were AS good...but seemed to last a tad longer.....Then when i was commuting ALL the time on my G ninja...i decided to try some crazy tires...Continental Road Attacks or something!>??! they werent actually THAT bad...had enough grip in the winter...and lasted for EVER!!!! since the days of my C1h('s lol) ive gone back to the 014's and i have to say compared...the grip in the wet is ****....they give me no confidence......but then as soon as its dry they are AWSOME!!!! and they warm up pretty damn quick and seem to keep there heat longer than others! Kwaka put em on the zx6r as standered to! lol

Nope not a typo! Well I know how many miles i got out of it cos i was ****ed off that i had to replace it after 2 months & 600 miles!
Maybe i got a dodgy one i dont know????
They are ****e though, no rear end grip when banked right over....& the fronts give out as well...
But other people i know like them....Mind you though i know others that get on with them...dont ever by the model specific Bridgestones, they are a harder compound than the "off the shelf ones"
I know that because i rang Bridgestone & asked!
