well i have been out and sourced myself a FZR400 RR twin headlamp which is a direct swap for the trx850 headlamp (size wise anyway)

i have a few issues with it at the moment!

now if anyone has done this before i have a few questions...

on the trx you have three light levels normally...

1- low beam (tiny little bulb like 2W or something)
2- main light (H4 60/55W)
3- high beam (flash) same H4 bulb but more power to it hence high beam

now with the fzr400 headlamp you have two Koito 12v 55/40W bulbs which when connected to the wiring loom only come on when the main light (point 2 above) is on or on high beam (point 3 above)

now i have two options, hook the low beam to both lights so that when on low the two lamps are alight, now if i do this the main beam light technically will not do anything as the lights are already lit... technically.

then when flicked to high beam the two lamps will go to high beam.. again all theory based.

OR....

ignore the low beam and just have main and high beam....

now with MOT regulations im not sure what is required to working etc...

also with the trx bulb you could up it to a 100W/55W H4...

what rated bulbs can i get away with on the FZR400 conversion lamp on my trxie with out it draining the battery????

i hope my blathering all makes sense...

comments welcomed with open arms! thanks!
