ive never heard of police doing spot checks because its a lot of work to prove a bikes not restricted. of course if you blast past them at 160 they will probably guess its not restricted.. ive been pulled several times and have never been asked if my bikes restricted. if you do decide to derestrict it, try not to get in a big crash or they might check. (as if youd try to get into a big crash in the first place, lol)

Yeah Ive been wanting to deristrict my gixer600, I ride with Albere, he has a cbr400 (really nice bike, bastard:grin2) same problem just don't want to be put in that situation with the plod.

oh yea also, I'm looking at cans for my gsxr600 '99. Just wondering what everyone thinks and any tips on places and websites.

Thanks

Derestrict it! Theres 6 or 7 people on here that are restricted on paper, as long as you've got the documents the old bill ain't going elbow deep in your bike to find 4 little washers.

Someone even got points on a restricted licence and they never checked.

It would cover you, if you've got your restriction documents, you're fine, worst case just stick the restrictors back in.

i got taken to court when i was on a restricted licence and got points and they didnt ask if it was restricted. i dont think most of them know what it means to be honest.

i could help you do it one day if you want. its not too bad to do. i did my gixxer400 pretty quickly.

I think by summer time when the pace has picked up a little bit you'll be dying to get it derestricted.

Go to a site like www.hottrax.co.uk book one, and go along!

Or just go and watch one.

Derestricting is easy, just 4 washers behind the carbs usually. As long as you can take the carbs off, you can derestrict a bike.

Chances of being caught are slim, but there is always a chance.
