yep it was real, speculation where i work was that the MET might have got it the start of the Gumball 3000 rally as it sets off from London.

I just can't work out how they can justify spending SO much money on a car that is going to drink petrol and break down? And the people they arrest, where are they going to put them?

:laugh1 I have been told this evening that its on loan for the Gumball and its also going to also be loitering around Bank holiday weekend for those who abuse the run up to Peterborough, also look out for METS new Lotus ...... it is out there...:jumping2

Whether its used for the Gumball or not, i dont know how the Home Office can allow a Police Force to even think about that sort of cash outlay for renting one let alone buying one :D

The Volvo T5 has done well enough keeping up with criminals over the years, to feel the need for BMW's and anything bigger is just a bigger blatant waste of money than i first thought ;)

Maybe Essex Police should concentrate on Policing instead of using the EVO for pulling clapped out cars? :D


(we rang the Police the other night to report the neighbours house alarm going off, i went and checked the property myself seeing as it was late, but Jetski got told by the Police that unless it looked suspicious they wouldnt come out, how do you know its not suspicious until you check it??? :D )

But instead they are sat at McDonalds in a £40,000 car pigging out on Donuts ;)

Well said! Even if they were given the car, that thing is going to drink petrol and tyres, not exactly practical! The Volvos were doing the job fine!

Mick I agree with you 100% on the car issue, the dont actually get charged a hugh amount to hire the vehicles (not that this is the point) as its free advertising of sorts for the manufacturer.....personally the money would be better spent on Victims of Crime and compensation for those truely worthy of it or those who have been subject to horrendous injustice / malicious crime or on something worthwhile in the community that actually works....all the Home Office and the Chief Constable/Commissionaires worry about is there fu**ing crime statistics and detection rates (which they fiddle harder than a fiddler on a fiddling thing) oh and on a personal level their fatcat pensions..........:shooter
